Guild of Copy Editors' requests page

On this page, you can request that the Guild of Copy Editors copy-edit specific articles.

Instructions for requesters

To make a request, remove any existing {{copy edit}} tags from the article, then click this button and follow the instructions:

Please remove any existing {{copy edit}} tags from the article to avoid edit conflicts during the copy edit.

Please note:

  • No request by an unregistered editor will be accepted unless the IP has done significant work on the article. Drive-by IP requests already on the list may be declined by any editor.
  • The average waiting time is two or so months. Please be patient and feel free to improve your requested article while you wait.
  • If you plan to nominate the article for good article, A-class or featured article status, please wait until the copy edit is complete before nominating it.
  • Having your article copy edited by our team does not guarantee that the prose will be considered acceptable during any of the above reviews.
  • You may have up to two open requests at any one time. This is enforced so that every request can have a fair chance of being fulfilled within a reasonable period.

Requests may be declined if the article is:

August 2011

Peru national football team

I would like to submit the article for FA review. It has plenty of sources and overall nicely written. The main issue with it is the long history section.

  • What it needs: If someone could make a summary (WP:SUMMARY) of the history section, then the main issue would be resolved. A separate article for the history section already exists.

That is all. It's a tough task, but whoever is willing to contribute to this can reward themselves with having helped an article reach FA status. Best of wishes.--MarshalN20 | Talk 00:36, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Baffle and the Guild. One day of edits and the article is already looking fantastic.--MarshalN20 | Talk 03:34, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Done - Thanks for your comments. :-) I've condensed and clarified the text but haven't tackled the summary request as I think I'll need to check the article more closely. I've made some comments on the article's talk page. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 18:55, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish general election, 1933

Needs ridding of my idiosyncratic prose before a GAN, I think. Might make a change from music and film articles! (Not particularly long, either.) Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 20:18, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Snow Prince

The reviewer for this page mentioned that the page had "some more grammar and overlinking issues throughout the article" and suggested that I can look for help here. As I seem to be the only editor currently working on the page, I am looking for someone else to help copyedit the page. Thanks!--Lionratz (talk) 13:33, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm withdrawing. This needs somebody who can read the Italian references. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:49, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I might do it in future, but I don't think this article is yet ready for copy editing, for the following reasons:
  1. It appears to be a translation of 90% of the Italian Wikipedia article Moby Prince. In order to give credit where credit is due, a {{Translated page}} template should be placed on the article's talk page, identifying the article and version that was translated to create this article. But first:
  2. The Italian Wikipedia has only one article covering both the ship and the disaster. Why does the English Wikipedia need two: MS Moby Prince and Moby Prince disaster? The first is very short and about 2/3 of it is about the disaster anyway. How about putting the present content in the MS Moby Prince article, to avoid any suspicion of a content fork?
  3. At present, not only are all the references in Italian, but very few of them identify their authors and a number of them don't have their proper titles. For example, ref 60 is just presented as "articolo tratto da", and there are too many bare URLs.
Copy editing is only worth while if the content is reasonably stable, so I think these matters should be addressed before we do it. --Stfg (talk) 19:39, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's mostly a translation, double checked with original sources and with a few added paragraphs.
Two articles IMHO are better, since one is about the ship (and may be expanded in future), the other is about the disaster (a separate event with aftermath still going on). If you prefer to join them, I'll not disagree, though.
most of those references links to the press page of the association of the victims.
I'd love to fix this, but I've almost no spare time right now. If you can fix it yourself please do, else it may be a long time since I could get back with a proper fixing. --Jollyroger (talk) 11:52, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infinity on High

Hi! This article is currently undergoing a Good Article review, but the reviewer requested I get help with a copyedit. Any suggestions that could be made would be great, I have until tomorrow :O Thanks! Basilisk4u (talk) 16:12, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony Stewart (ice hockey)

During the GA review some issues with the prose were brought up. I gave the article a ce of my own but another pair of eyes would be appreciated (especially since grammar isn't my strong suit). I know it is suggested that requests are made prior to a nomination, but I had written the article a few months ago and thought that I had someone look at it. Turns out had had forgotten to have that done (guess that's why you don't nominated something after being away from it for such an extended period of time:p). I appreciate your time and help, thanks in advance --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 18:53, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A recent peer review has highlighted issues with the text, including possible issues with regional phrasing. The article was promoted to GA by an inexperienced editor, delisted after a reassessment, and is currently awaiting another GAN. -- Zanimum (talk) 01:26, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to get this to a GA article and but I'm being told it looks like it might need some copy-editing. I do want to note that a consensus was reached that the 2001 release was an illegal release of the album as noted on it's talk page so it's a 2002 compilation album as Rimes re-issued it.
