Woking High School (formerly named Horsell High School) is a mixed comprehensive school for pupils aged 11–16 in the Horsell area of Woking, Surrey, England, UK. It specialises in Technology and has been awarded 'Technology Specialist School' status in 2004. It has approximately 1200 students on roll. The school attracts students from many primary schools often from different areas. Every classroom in the school is equipped with a Smart Board.[citation needed] The school comprises of a Humanities block, Design and Technology block, Physical Education block and English block, which allow students to focus on particular subjects. There is a school hall and canteen off the main entrance. The forms/classes are named after the nearby private road 'Ridgeway' each form/class has a letter from the name. The school also offers a number of enrichment activities and schemes. Many students from Woking High School go on to Woking College after completing their GCSEs, however many also go on to other colleges/sixth forms.

Awards

As well as the 'Technology Specialist School' status, the school has attained a number of other prestigious awards including the 'British Council International School Award (ISA)', 'Healthy Schools' award, 'Investors in People' award, 'Sports Mark Gold', 'Artsmark', 'ICT Mark', 'Investors in Careers' award and The 'Working in Partnership with parents' award.

Subjects

Woking High School teaches students a variety of subjects which include, Modern Foreign Languages (MFL), Citizenship, Science, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Latin, Information Communication Technology, Maths, English and Physical Education and Drama which is not on the curriculum and is taught as an extra suibject which gives the pupils great prospectus. The school has great I.T and Design and Technology facilities. It has 5 rooms with enough computers for an average sized class.

Additional Information

Matt Willis, former member of Busted (band) and winner of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! 2006, attended Woking High School Robert Green, West Ham and ex-England Goalkeeper also went to Woking High School, then called Horsell High School. 79% of the Year 11 Cohort of 230 students gained at least 5 A*- C Grades with 62% gaining A*- C in their English and Maths GCSEs in 2009, which is above the national average.
Woking high school also uses Frog to help students progress with their learning check their homework and much much more
