Hi. You deleted the all-caps version of the article, but that was just a redirect since somebody came along after my AfD nomination and moved it to Prabhat Kumar Mukund. That version is still there. The Mark of the Beast (talk) 01:34, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks for the note. Wifione Message 04:24, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A beer for you!

Good to see you. Hadn't seen you editing in about a month and was starting to wonder if you dropped off the Earth. Trusilver 04:40, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wow :) Thanks so much. No, not dropped off the face of the Earth. However, have had to travel around the world for considerable time and that's kept me away from one of my hobbies; much because of the amount of work up my sleeve, and some because of the lack of secure net access. Thanks for keeping a watch :) Will send you an email soon. Take care and best always to you Trusilver. Wifione Message 09:33, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request.

Hi Wifione, Could you please provide a closing statement for [1]? I agree the !vote consensus was clear, but the discussion had nearly nothing to do with our actual notability guidelines. I realize I'd be spitting into the wind to send it to DrV, but I might do so and so understanding exactly what the deletion reason was would be helpful. Thanks. Hobit (talk) 03:35, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hobit, good to see you around. Will leave a closing statement. Best. Wifione Message 06:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm pretty sure Mother Jones is a RS that was more than in passing. I didn't really feel there was any meaningful debate that the sources were fine (there are plenty of others out there, if I'd felt anyone had identified real issues with enough sources for it to matter I'd have provided them in the AfD). Should I put together the list of sources for you to look at or would you prefer I head to DrV? Thanks again for the detailed closing statement, it lets me know what the perceived problem is (most all of the !votes were WP:JNN so I wasn't sure how to address the problem). Hobit (talk) 01:42, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll prefer that you take it to DRV if you wish so that others may have a further look at the additional sources. I hope this reply answers your query? If there's any other assistance you may need, please just ask. Wifione Message 05:55, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, that's perfect. I may instead ask for it to be userfied. We'll see. Thanks again! Hobit (talk) 23:12, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bernhard Schaller

Just on the decision to delete the article for privacy reasons: In my eyes, it is obvious that the subject itself published the 'advertising' article and then asked for deletion after the 'nasty' part was added. The information on plagiarism is public information, and it was well referenced. I cold add more references, like retracted articles ([2] [3]). And the subject is indeed rather notable. It's not only THE case of plagiarism in German-speaking science, it's also related to the problems of renommed instititions recognizing this, and obviously to some questionable practice at Oradea university, where his Professor title comes from. For notability, see also [4] (rather at the end) and [5] which also reads that the subject is a prizeholder of the questionable EAS. (sorry, forgot signature) Dennosius (talk) 13:54, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Dennosius. I understand. However, in my view, deletion of the BLP was humane and sympathetic. Like I mentioned, in case there is strong opposition to the same by two or more editors, I'll review the deletion. Wifione Message 05:59, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. --Muhandes (talk) 10:59, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the edits you made on Amity University and I find myself a little confused. The thing is, the list of private universities lists four "Amity University", the one in Noida and three more, in Guragon, Gwalior and Jaipur. We actually have an article for Amity University Rajasthan and I was planning on creating stubs for the other based on the UGC list. Yet the article says there are only campuses there, not separate universities. What do you think? --Muhandes (talk) 18:58, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Muhandes. I think you're right. The part about campuses was perhaps taken from Amity's primary website. I'll do a double check tomorrow morning if possible. I'm unsure about whether we should create different articles or should we club them all into one article... That's because Amity per se might not be like the different Indian Institutes of Management which are run by different entities. I think, but I may be wrong, that the different universities of Amity are run by one organisation only. So my limited call would be not have separate articles but to have the information included in the same article of Amity University. Wifione Message 05:49, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the same situation occurs with Maharishi Markandeshwar University. The UGC recognizes three universities, a deemed university, Mullana (which confusingly resides in Ambala) and two private universities, Ambala and Solan. I think management wise the situation is quite similar. My weak inclination in both cases is towards creating separate articles just because I'm not sure where to draw the line. Do we create separate ICFAI university articles or not? What about the next series of universities? Rather than discuss the matter each time separately, I'm inclined towards saying that if the UGC recognizes them as separate institutes, they deserve separate articles. We have separate articles for colleges, in many cases even constituent colleges. This is at least as separate as a constituent college, and probably much more so. This is just a weak inclination though, if you feel strongly otherwise I will not argue it. --Muhandes (talk) 11:20, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Have you had any further thoughts on whether an article should be opened for the other Amity universities, Maharishi Markandeshwar universities, ICFAI universities etc.? I started discussion on the matter at WT:INEI and I value your opinion. --Muhandes (talk) 09:40, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also Amity University

Dear Wifione, there are a lot of points we have discussed and you have promised many times to get back on. We would really request your help. Also, you seem to have a very negative outlook on Amity and are doing in depth research on the net to find any negative issues. Why is that? There are so many more positive things. Why do you not focus on that.?Cfiveindia (talk) 05:28, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cfiveindia. My apologies for the past times as I really ran out of time and had to dedicate some time to my real life studies and work. With respect to the negative outlook, I'm sorry if it's coming out like that. That's not the intention at all. You had unfortunately deleted almost all the cited material that was there in the article that also referred to the controversies. I reinstated the same as you should not delete validly cited encyclopedic material. At the same time, due to the COI you have accepted earlier, I encourage you to post the positive links on to the talk page of the article and wait for comments for a couple of days before including them inside the article. I'm sure that if the points are validly cited with reliable sources, they'll allow the inclusion to adhere to our NPOV issues. Also, the part about posting something on Amity University's website - I'm just worried that any exceptional claim that is from a primary source will not be correct. I also think we should discuss the issue further on the Amity University talk page rather than here as that would allow other interested parties to involve themselves. But feel free to write directly back to me for any support at any time, irrespective of what I've written here. Wifione Message 05:47, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

Dear User:Wifione, thanks for giving me the opportunity to allow me to admit my mistake in reverting on User:Glider87's talk page and promise not to cross this line intentionally again. I really appreciate your kind advice in this matter. I've left a longer message at the discussion. I hope you have a good morning. With regards, AnupamTalk 10:16, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tahir Abbas protection

You've left an administrative note on the Tahir Abbas discussion page. I wasn't entirely sure of the correct interpretation of this note. Since it is possible to obtain court records in England, and in particular the "Statement of case" in civil cases, is this note meant to imply that such a public document would have no bearing, or would have considerable bearing, in resolving the current dispute? Thanks Bikerprof (talk) 11:18, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as per policy, such records will become primary in nature. Any material based solely on primary sources is not acceptable in any article in Wikipedia. That's basically all I wanted to say. Rest is left to the editors concerned. Does my reply provide appropriate clarification? If not, do please ask again. Kind regards. Wifione Message 12:23, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that's clear. Hopefully a resolution with consensus isn't far away. Bikerprof (talk) 12:47, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas Eve

Dear User:Wifione, since you reviewed the dispute regarding Christmas Eve, I would appreciate if you could read the discussion here and offer your comments. I am not sure if User:Glider87 understands WP:V or WP:RS, looking at his minimal edit history. If I am found to incorrect in my reasoning there by you, I am willing to accept this. I look forward to seeing your comments there. Thanks, AnupamTalk 14:37, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm keeping a watch. I see no consensus; and I think that there are good discussions going on. So wouldn't wish to interfere in any way whatsoever currently. Whenever the editors reach a consensus, you could write here or place up the request using the template I've suggested on the talk page. Wifione Message 04:51, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Dear User:Wifione, thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. Hopefully more users will chime in there soon and offer more comments on the different positions taken there. Have a nice night. With regards, AnupamTalk 05:04, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

About IIM Ahmedabad

Hi, I was looking through the IIM Ahmedabad Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Institute_of_Management_Ahmedabad). I notice that you have made a lot of edits on this page, and removed items. We're looking to rework the content on the page. We'd like your guidelines for the same. Do let us know. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EpicNewb (talkcontribs) 12:18, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi there Epic. I removed a lot of copyrighted material that was copied blatantly from various websites. I guess that was one of the issues. Other than that, it'll be good if you go through our editing policy and add content that adheres to this policy. Feel free to write back for any assistance. Wifione Message 04:48, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI, what he posted at my RfA wasn't a vote; 嫌いな人、あなたをファック is an attempt to say "Asshole, you're a fuck" in Japanese (I could post the correct way, but suffice to say he needs some Japanese lessons). I've warned him myself. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:34, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problems :) By the way, I loved your answer to my question. But wanted to know something else, do you know what's the connection between William Borg and NPP? Wifione Message 21:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking into it now... The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:47, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
From what I can see, he seems to have been one of the earliest people to work translating articles and developing a procedure for dealing with non-English content, which is a not-insignificant part of NPP today. He also was/is a part of WP:WikiProject proposed deletion patrolling. Did I miss something? The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You missed it completely. His was the first edit to NPP :) Wifione Message 22:04, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Sometimes I forget to check the obvious places... IRL I study the Ainu people, and there's no straightforward way to research them, so I've gotten too used to having to piece tons of fragments together to (sort of) get the right picture. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:07, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it was anyway a trick question. Just so you might get the absolutely correct idea, here's the history link to the two true NPPs, which will show you two names as being the creators of NPP and Npp. William Borg and Vacuum :)[6][7] Wifione Message 22:14, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; every so often, I take a little time to look into the history of this website to see how it got to where it is. Now I've got someplace new to look! (Incidentally, I didn't read WP:NPP until several months after I started patrolling; I just stuck with it for so long that eventually I came across it). Have fun in your RfA. Take care. Wifione Message 22:45, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support and comment at my recent successful RFA. Being now the new fellow in the fraternity of administrators, I will do my best to live up to the confidence shown in me by others, will move slowly and carefully when using the mop, will seek input from others before any action of which I might be unsure, and will try not to break anything beyond repair. I do not feel adminship is authority, but is rather a responsibility and trust accompanied by a few extra buttons. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:22, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reason of deletion my Article

Hey Dear Wifione, Hope you are in your good health, well i think you having some mistake about this Article name Qamar Shaheen Babur/Babur Malik just because of some Spell mistakes, but we write this name in both spells with Babur Malik and Babar Malik, we tried to add some references like some sports stories published by Babar Malik as well as the Image of Babar Malik.jpg..... I dont know wot kinda criteria you need to make an article on here but this is kinda confusing for me as well as for my followers... This is my humble request to you and to wikipedia team that see the references we added in Article Qamar Shaheen Babur/Babur Malik and try to reinstate this article... you can go to the link http://www.sportsencounter.com/author/babar-malik and can see the sports stories published by this author... you can also search the images of Babar Malik on google, and on web with this name you will see alot of sports stories... you can also search through babar.journalist on google for this personality... wot else you need i dunt know or mightbe i cant understand how to create an article or how to add references but you people have to search properly about this personality... if you are having some problems with SPELLINGS or Babur and Babar so you can simply change the spellings of Babur in Babar but the personality is same... the difference is simple that Personality's Original name is Qamar Shaheen Babur but he is using Babar Malik as Alias/journalistic name.... you better change the spellings of Babur in Babar but kindly reinstate this article. Best Regards, Decoderz (talk

  • Hi Decoderz, the criteria to include any individual's article on Wikipedia is listed on the page called Wikipedia:Notability (people). Please read that to understand which kind of biographies can be included and which cannot be included. Of relevant use could also be a page that deals with biographies of living people, and that is Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Please ensure that when you create a page about any living person, it adheres to both these instructions. If you need assistance in creating the page, you could provide me reliable sources that prove the notability of the person. By sources, I mean preferably news items that are reliable and that I can verify to be existing. For example, the source you have provided above (http://www.sportsencounter.com/author/babar-malik) doesn't mention that Babar Malik has printed those stories. Also, the problem is that when a news site like Sports Encounter claims that it "is world’s fastest growing sports news website", I would immediately take this with a pinch of salt. But of course, I'm not closed to other sources you may provide. But please first read up the two links I've given above to prove that the individual is notable. I am not going to restore the biography otherwise. Please do write back to me for any further assistance. Thanks and regards. Wifione Message 14:09, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wifione,

I am still confused about the deletion of my article because some of people like Ehsan Sehgal are just trying to make my article controversial otherwise i recreated the page Babar Malik and provided some sources like a story in a newspaper about the person Babar Malik when he kidnapped by the agencies. i can provide u more detail and u can also search on google by Babar Malik Kidnapped. you will read alot of stories in different news papers about his kidnapping and condemnation about different journalists unions just like http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page...25-8-2007_pg7_25 and http://www.yasni.com/babar+malik/check+people/ary - United States . my heartily request to you please consider my article stay able. i provided u the URL of my archive where u can read alot of stories that were written by Babar Malik, on the top of every story you can see the name by Babar Malik with the dateline of Islamabad... you can see http://issuu.com/thefinancialdaily/docs/thefinancialdaily-epaper-23-12-2011?mode=window&pageNumber=10 and read the article's credit line as well as the last para where its included that Babar Malik is well known journalist from rawalpindi and Islamabad. you can also see the page http://www.sportsencounter.com/list-of-authors please try to check the link and help me because only the person Ehsan Sehgal is trying to mess with my article and trying to make it controversial, even he sometime write he is dutch and sometimes he write he is Pakistani but in Pakistan no one knows about Ehsan Sehgal in journalism i have already checked from everywhere. he just enter a line and administrators put the tag on my article for speedy deletion.. why is this so... please help me and give my article back — Preceding unsigned comment added by Decoderz (talkcontribs) 15:53, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Admin

Ooh, thank you very much for considering me, I'm honoured + shocked. It's something I've definitely considered - I've grown so much as a person and an editor in the past year, and although I am not nearly as frequent as I used to be due to a new job, I still think I could have a role to play. Let me think it over and get back to you in January, once the hoo-haa of the holidays is over. Thanks and regards, GiantSnowman 17:15, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I will do, thanks. If you don't hear from me within the first few days of January, please give me a gentle nudge of a reminder, either on my talk page or via e-mail. Hope you have an enjoyable Christmas + New Year. GiantSnowman 17:33, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Admin2

Thanks for the thoughts, but I don't have any desire for or use for "the tools" -- except, maybe, for one if that can be separated from the pack without running the Lord of the Flies gauntlet at RFA... Being able to read deleted material would be a boon — once in a while I run into deleted pages in the course of my writing and have no way to see whether there was anything "good" there that was blown away. It'd also be helpful at AFD, once something is deleted there DRV becomes pretty much impossible unless one is an administrator. So: no interest in running for Adminship, but thanks — but if there is a permissions status that allows reading deleted material, that would be useful. best, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 18:29, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I appreciate your reply Tim. Thanks. True, if in the future, trusted editors like you are allowed to view deleted material through a separate function, it'll be a pleasure to assign the right to you. Of course, in the meanwhile, if you ever change your mind, do let me know. Merry Christmas. Wifione Message 18:32, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IIM Calcutta

Hi, I have modified your edit to IIM Calcuta. The name of the course "Post Graduate Diploma" clearly indicates that it is a diploma and not a degree course. I feel that this is not so important fact to emphasize with a seperate sentence, because the industry does not care whether an MBA is degree or diploma. The most important factor in an MBA from an industry perspective is the brand name of the college. Even foreign companies and universities recognizes the equivalence of the diploma in Management and degree Anbu121 (talk) 19:51, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anbul. Thanks for the note. Unfortunately, the view you provide may perhaps not be the right view and could well be synthesis - as your explanation does not include their doctoral programmes (which I'm told are certificates considered equivalent to Ph.D but not Ph.D). It is an important piece of information that is encyclopedic in the context of India, where the question of degrees versus diplomas, I am told, does perhaps matter a lot. I'll suggest that you may consider adding a line to explain that even the doctoral programmes do not lead to Ph.Ds being awarded but are equivalent. Would that be acceptable to you? Thanks. Wifione Message 20:00, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't notice the PhD part in the article. Actually, here in IIMs, there are no doctorate programmes, we offer only fellowship programmes in management. I will try to edit the article such that it clearly says that it is fellowship and not Phd Anbu121 (talk) 20:21, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't imagine any good coming from your essay even if it had content. Can you? — Arthur Rubin (talk) 20:02, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh hi. That's a good question for an essay that's just about to start. Was attempting to put up a skeletal editing support guideline for editors and administrators. Suggestions will be just about great. How did you even come across this page I created today? Kind regards. Wifione Message 20:14, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm not familiar with your Wikipedia history, but a number of troublesome editors have created essays with similar titles which were eventually deleted as being contrary to policy. I don't think you intended that, but that's how most of these end up.
    • As to how I came across it, it was in regard your comment on WP:TEA. You may not be aware that all those IPs (99., 141., and the specific 97. and 50.) are all the same person, and they thank everyone who agrees with them. • Troublesome, well, my mother would be loathe to disagree with you. But don't worry; will take care on the essay. And about the ips, no harm in them thanking everybody around I guess. I wonder why nobody's sock-blocked them yet? That apart, merry Christmas Arthur. Have a brilliant new year too. Wifione Message 17:21, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
