Kristen Mary "Kris" Jenner (née Houghton; formerly Kardashian; born November 5, 1955) is an American television personality, socialite and businesswoman. She also is the manager for all of her family members, including Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian. She is the wife of athlete and former Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner and was married previously to lawyer Robert Kardashian; they divorced in 1990.[1]

Jenner was added to the cast of CBS talk show The Talk, as of August 26, 2011.

Early life

Jenner was born Kristen Mary Houghton in San Diego, California, the daughter of Mary Jo (née Campbell) and Robert Houghton, an engineer.[2][3] She has a sister, Karen. His parents divorced when she was seven, and she and her sister were raised by her mother.[4] Kris met future husband, lawyer Robert Kardashian (widely known for his early representation of O.J. Simpson), when she was seventeen.[5][6] They were married in June 1978.[7] They had four children: Kourtney Mary on April 18, 1979; Kimberly Noel on October 21, 1980; Khloé Alexandra on June 27, 1984 and Robert Kardashian, Jr. on March 17, 1987. Kris was a housewife while her children were growing up. Kris filed for divorce in 1990.[8] Robert Kardashian died September 30, 2003, two months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer.[9]

Involvement in O.J. Simpson trial

The Kardashian family was very close to O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown Simpson. The Simpson trial caused conflict between Kris and Robert. Kardashian was on O.J.'s defense team, while Nicole had been Jenner's best friend.[10] (Kris named daughter Kendall Nicole Jenner after Nicole Brown Simpson.)

In 2008, when O.J. Simpson was sentenced for armed robbery, Jenner said she had "mixed emotions" about the sentence.[11]

Career and Fame

Jenner and her first daughter, Kourtney Kardashian, opened "Smooch," a children's clothing boutique, in 2003. They operated the store until late 2009, when they decided to close it because Kourtney became pregnant.[12] She became a millionaire overnight, due to the TV show, Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Jenner now manages the careers of all the members of her family and co-manages the girl group BG5, or The Beach Girl5, with son Rob.[13] Kris and her current husband, Bruce Jenner own Jenner Communications Inc. together. She is best known for being the executive producer and starring in the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.[1] Jenner also produces Khloe & Lamar, a show featuring her third daughter Khloe. The Kardashian family made a combined total of $65 million in 2010.[14] Kris Jenner's current net worth alone is estimated to be $20 million.[15]

Personal life

She and current husband, Bruce Jenner, married on April 21, 1991. Bruce had four children from two previous marriages: Burt, Casey, Brody, and Brandon. Kris and Bruce have two daughters, Kendall Nicole (b. November 3, 1995) and Kylie Kristen (b. August 10, 1997).[16]

On December 14, 2009, Jenner became a grandmother when Kourtney and Scott Disick had a child, Mason Dash Disick.[17]

Tattoos and plastic surgery

Jenner has one tattoo on her lower back that has the names of her daughters, Kendall and Kylie, which she got with her friend Ellen K (radio hostess), as seen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

As said in her memoir, "Kris Jenner and all things Kardashian", she had a boob job to enhance her breasts twice. In June 2011, Jenner underwent plastic surgery months before Kim's wedding. She allowed the preparations and recovery from the surgery to be recorded. The video footage can be seen on E! Online and Kim's Fairytale Wedding Part 1.[18] She explained,"I needed a little freshening up for the wedding. Just doing what a girl's gotta do!" [19]
