Alex Wagner is a journalist based in the United States. She is currently a political analyst and anchor of the daytime program Now with Alex Wagner on MSNBC.

Early life and education

Wagner grew up in Washington, DC and attended Brown University.[1]

Career

Wagner has worked as the cultural correspondent for the Center for American Progress.[2] From 2003 to 2007, she was editor-in-chief of The Fader magazine, covering cultural movements around the world.[3] She also served as executive director of Not On Our Watch, an advocacy organization focused on mass atrocities and human rights violations.[3]

Wagner then became the White House correspondent for Politics Daily, a political news magazine under AOL News.[3] She moved to The Huffington Post after it was acquired by AOL.[4]

As an analyst on MSNBC, Wagner has appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell.[5]

Wagner currently hosts Now with Alex Wagner weekdays on MSNBC.[6]

Political views

She has described herself as progressive. She is one of MSNBC's many TV hosts who have stated they are "liberal" or "progressive."[7]

Wagner favors abolishing the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, which protects the right to keep and bear arms. She said, "I just think in the grand scheme of the rights that we have; the right of assembly, free speech, I mean, owning a gun does not, it does not tally on the same level as those other Constitutional rights."[8]
