Barnstar

The Hip Hop Award
I, IrishLad1916 (talk), award the Hip Hop Award to Dan56 for the amount of work you put into articles concerning Eminem, and want to let you know I appreciate it. Here this Barnstar is for you! IrishLad1916 (talk) 21:44, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE:

Hey Dan, how's it going? I noticed several other users have commented in regards to that image situation, and that the issue seems to have died down. I'll definately keep an eye out on it though, and if it brews back up, I'll try to help by contacting the user, and/or engaging in the discussion on the album talk page. --Blastmaster11 (talk) 18:05, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MDNA

Well, after second thought, I think you were right. There will be many more notable reviews, and most Madonna's album articles used only major publications, like Hard Candy. Bluesatellite (talk) 03:44, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks much better now :) Bluesatellite (talk) 04:14, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Editor's Barnstar
For your amazing effort on the critical reception of MDNA. Keep up good work. Bluesatellite (talk) 03:53, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you be kind enough to voice your point-of-view on this? It is appreciated. I'd like to start a discussion instead of engaging in edit-warring and WP:POINT. Thanks. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:20, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the info regarding the Wikipedia style manual. I was using the AP Stylebook regarding punctuation and quotations. I stand corrected and will follow your advice. TopDog5450 (talk) 21:12, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doo Wops

Could you change the certification table on One Direction Up All Night (One Direction album)#Certifications to the table on DOO WOPS because now the reader doesn't know whether its based on sales or shipments AdabowtheSecond (talk) 15:24, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yea I prefer that one you added. Would you object to it being cropped though? Hot Stop 05:52, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Stone Rollin.jpg

Hello, what do you mean with "extra colors" with my version of File:Stone Rollin.jpg? Klow (talk) 12:24, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So by "extra" you mean added by someone to the original? Your version is just paler than the original cover to me, that's all. Klow (talk) 20:38, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, neither your version nor mine match the one found at Saadiq's official website, so what?... Klow (talk) 22:19, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I may still have some at the store I work at. I'll trust you for now, but I'll compare when I can! ;) Klow (talk)

Sons of Soul

Hi there! I have reviewed Sons of Soul which you nominated for GA. I could only find a few things that could be improved. Overall, a great article. You should be proud of it! Cheers, Basilisk4u (talk) 20:37, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mixtapes/Compilations

I'm actually well aware that mixtapes aren't really compilations. Especially these days with up and coming rappers and R&B singers' careers in limbo, they release mixtapes to stay relavant. However, in Template:Infobox album, the green color, (which is used for compilation albums) is also used for mixtapes in default, with greatest hits albums, box set albums and remix albums as well. Generally all of them categorized as compilations: "Category:(Year) compilation albums". These days, the main album category (Category:(Year) albums) is only used for studio albums now. Perhaps a discussion should be started about this Mixtapes/Compilations issue, what do you think? QuasyBoy (talk) 19:01, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Koavf (talk · contribs) is the best person to talk to about that. He is the one that creates most of those sub categories anyway. QuasyBoy (talk) 16:20, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Outkast albums

Hi! I could not help but notice the amazing work you did on Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and countless other albums. I was wondering, would you be willing to collaborate with me on Outkast's albums? My goal is to get several of them to GA status. Thank you! Basilisk4u (talk) 20:36, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've got 4 articles I'm working on primarily now, with some upcoming albums articles to work on as well. But whatever little I can do, or discuss, about those Outkast album articles, I'll be happy to do. Dan56 (talk) 21:37, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I started Southernplayalist... article, and will continue adding prose from more book sources. Dan56 (talk) 02:00, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Audio samples

The policy guideline you cite explicitly points to 64kbps as a suitable quality. Having just under 100 isn't the worst crime in the world, but as the article has been nominated at GAC, everything really needs to be done properly. J Milburn (talk) 20:36, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If something is "usually" done, it's up to you to justify why your samples should not be treated in that way, not up for me to argue that they should. You ask me whether "30 more kilo-whatevers [creates] a potential copyright issue"- I don't know, I'm not a lawyer. I assume it's a somewhat arbitrary line-in-the-sand; from what I know about music production, it seems a fair one, as the lowest rate worth listening to; as I'm sure you know, the non-free content criteria require minimal extent of use- not just "a bit lower than it was before". We need as low as we can go without compromising the usefulness of the content. So- what is it that those 30 extra whatevers are adding to the article, and why are they needed in this case when they would not be normally? J Milburn (talk) 20:46, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks; I appreciate how it can look like uploading non-free content is an excercise in hoop-jumping. J Milburn (talk) 20:55, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re: Channel Orange

I think the rule of thumb is generally that if an album's title is stylized, there should be a note in the lead mentioning that, and that the rest of the article uses the most simple version, ie. Channel Orange. But I'm not really an expert on that, though I think channel ORANGE would look awkward. Also, I've just been screwing around with some of his older song articles, if you need any help with the Channel Orange article, I'd offer my assistance. Bruce Campbell (talk) 21:34, 14 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting article. I've added some info from it to the article, thank you. Also, amazing work on your sandbox! Bruce Campbell (talk) 06:21, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Otis Blue

hello,

I wonder if you could add any content to Otis Blue? It is currently too small despite its importance. I ask you because you contributed to many albums, and you may have independent sources. Regards.--GoPTCN 17:37, 15 July 2012 (UTC) [reply]

Marvin Gaye article

But hey, while we're on that Sons of Soul trip, I think I need your help concerning the Marvin Gaye page. Apparently I need in-line citations and the like to make the Marvin page a "good/featured article". I wonder if you could help me with that. Probably start a WikiProject: Marvin Gaye thing or something. BrothaTimothy (talk · contribs) 15:09, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re: Channel Orange

I noticed you nominated Life is Good, and no one seems to have an issue with that nomination. Considering that Life is Good came out after Channel Orange, I would say that Channel Orange is just as eligible. I would nominate it. There are no current plans for further singles or anything so it appears the vast amount of information has been covered. The only argument I could see against nominating it is the eventual Accolade/Award section that could be added during December, and that hasn't prevented GAs before. And that isn't too hard to keep up with. I would say nominate and see what happens. Bruce Campbell (talk) 01:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Repercussions (band). Hi Dan56, greetings! I just wanted to let you know that the information on Repercussions band is not really published on another website because we did not get extensive promotion from our labels. I am a former member of the band , therefore I have the info from personal experience. I'm not sure how I can prove that this is not made up. Reprise/Warner Bros. don't seem to spend much time archiving former artists although the material clearly has been released. Please advise on how I can edit my article to make it suitable for publishing. Osmo.Daniele — Preceding unsigned comment added by Osmo.Daniele (talkcontribs) 06:03, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
