Fair use rationale for Image:Usher-u-turn.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:Usher-u-turn.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to merge Rayman95 (talk) 16:18, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I think Evolution 8701 Tour should be merged into 8701 because the tour itself wasn't that big, evident with the article itself, as it was only in North America. It can be merged without making the new article bloated, as 8701's article isn't that big either. The tour was in support of the album anyway. Rayman95 (talk) 23:01, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Support - Similar to Here I Stand (Usher album), but those tour dates and set list will need to be cited. Dan56 (talk) 23:20, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Support - Per reason and first support comments. AaronYou Da One 01:10, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
  • Support - the page for the tour alone is not necessary as the information doesn't really go beyond the dates and setlist. I suspect it will be near impossible to source the setlist and exact dates so you may end up with just a paragraph about the tour instead. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 23:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

I can source the dates with this link, and the opening acts with this link—both published by MTV—but not the setlist. It'll probably end up being a paragraph, with opening acts and dates. Rayman95 (talk) 00:10, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Support, per comments above. — Tomica (talk) 00:11, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

I'll be reviewing this article. Bruce Campbell (talk) 00:36, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Background

* The first sentence is a little awkward and seems like it flow better split up. -> "Usher had initially planned to release the album entitled All About U, as his third studio album on October 31, 2000, following My Way (1997) which to date, has sold over seven million copies." -> Try something like "Usher had initially planned to release the album entitled All About U, as his third studio album on October 31, 2000. The album was to follow his successful My Way (1997) which to date, has sold over seven million copies."
Yes check.svg Done Changed sentence to your suggestion.
* Though multiple tracks from the album had leaked on to online music store Napster several months prior to its release, on March 13, 2000; the leaked songs include "T.T.P.", "U R the One" and "Pop Ya Collar" -> "On March 13, 2000, multiple tracks from the album had leaked on to online music store Napster several months prior to its release, including "T.T.P.", "U R the One" and "Pop Ya Collar" would be a better way to phrase it
Yes check.svg Done Changed sentence to your suggestion.
* Wikilink Janet Jackson and MTV Icon
Yes check.svg Done Wikilinked.
* "Usher explained the he returned to the studios to record new songs "I didn't want that to be the way my..." should be changed to -> "Usher explained the he returned to the studios to record new songs, stating "I didn't want that to be the way my..."
Yes check.svg Done Changed sentence to your suggestion.
* Why [new] and not just new?
Yes check.svg Done Removed the brackets, don't really know why they're there.

Recording

* "Jam commented that "[His] mom said: "Oh my God, Usher's got this track and we thought you guys would be perfect to produce it"" -> According to Jam, his mother had said "Oh my God, Usher's got this track and we thought you guys would be perfect to produce it"
Yes check.svg Done Changed sentence to your suggestion.
* Not to nitpick; but uncapatilize the "We" towards the end
Yes check.svg Done Sure, uncapatilized.

Composition

* About the first sentence, is his "soul"? A little awkward. I would suggest either that the album lyrically "represents" his soul or was written from his soul.
Yes check.svg Done Yeah that is kinda awkward, replaced with "represents".
* Put a ";" after heartache to denounce when he is speaking.
Yes check.svg Done Placed semi-colon.
* Some of the references are placed a little awkwardly, for example following a semi-colon is a reference. In particular, "U Don't Have to Call" is a hip-hop song[9] inspired by Jackson,[7] while "U Got It Bad" is an R&B slow-jam;[10] Kyle Anderson of MTV wrote that it makes use of the acoustic guitar and a "slow-burning bassline" throughout.[10] -> Should be more like "U Don't Have to Call" is a hip-hop song inspired by Jackson, while "U Got It Bad" is an R&B slow-jam. [7][9][10] About "U Got it Bad", Kyle Anderson of MTV wrote that it makes use of the acoustic guitar and a "slow-burning bassline" throughout.[10]
Yes check.svg Done Moved references and altered text.

Tour

* I looked through the article's history and I'm aware that a merger recently took place, combining the information from the album's tour page into this one. That being said, the tour section in the current article is one paragraph long, and is followed by rather large graph. Considering the length of the graph and the fact that the article doesn't really go into intricate detail about the tour, I would suggest removing it, since the entirety of the information can be found from reference 35 anyway. Either that, or use { hidden }. Whatever is fine with the editor, just a suggestion to reduce the size.
Yes check.svg Done Collapsed the table.

Reception

* Un wiki-link Michael Jackson since it's linked elsewhere. Also, unlink Janet Jackson.
Yes check.svg Done Un wikilinked.

Overall the article is in quality condition and once these concerns are addressed, the article will be passed. Bruce Campbell (talk) 01:06, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the review, I think everything's done. Rayman95 (talk) 13:00, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Passed then. Bruce Campbell (talk) 23:10, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

The release date is wrong[edit]

The release date for the album is August 7, 2001, hence the title 8701, It's pretty obvious, so I don't know where July 1, 2001 came from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dodge1991 (talkcontribs) 05:33, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Like the rest of the infobox, it is based on what is sourced in the article. In this case, the #Release history section. Read the article. Dan56 (talk) 14:26, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
