Tractor Sazi Tabriz Football Club (Red Wolves of Azarbayjan) (Tiraxtur or Trakhtur) (Azerbaijani: Tiraxtur Futbol Klubu, (Persian: باشگاه تراکتورسازی تبریز) is an Iranian football club based in Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province, and owned by Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company. They play in Iran's Pro League.
In 2010–11 Iran Pro League average attendance for home games in Yadegar-e-Emam Stadium was more than 60,000.[1]
History
Tractor Sazi was formed in 1970 in support of Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company in Tabriz but since 2011 it's been owned by Sepah Ashura,[2] also 30% of club belongs to Gharzol Hasane Javanan Kheir Co.[3]
The club used to have a significant presence in the old Azadegan League (current Iran's Premier League football), but had been playing in Iran's second highest league since relegation in the 2001–02 season, before returning to the tire of Iranian league system in 2009. They also provided Iran with some of the most talented players during the nineties. In the 2011–12 Persian Gulf Cup season Tractor Sazi finished 2nd, therefore securing a spot for the 2013 AFC Champions League. The 2013 Asian Champions League, will be the first time Tractor Sazi has qualified for the competition.
Soccer Nationalism
Due to ban of Azerbaijani ethno-emancipatory activities in Iran, Tractor Sazi soccer team have played an important role in the articulating politics demands of its fans for the institution of instruction and TV broadcasting in their native language at almost every game. The fans usually shout pan-Turkic slogans emphasizing their distinctiveness from the Persians and explicitly support Azerbaijani separatism[4] or hateful slogans against teams from Persia which have sometimes led to bloody clashes, in these situations the police generally side with the Persians.[5]
Official anthem
There are a lot of popular marches for Tractor F.C. but 'Tiraxtur iftixarımız' (Tractor is our proud) that create and implement in 2012 was chosen as official song this year. The table below shows the Tractor fans anthem that is sung at Tractor matches.
