Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 also known in Japan and South Korea as Winning Eleven 2014 is an upcoming association football video game and the latest edition of the Pro Evolution Soccer series, developed and published by Konami. The game was officially announced by Konami on March 10, 2013.[1][2] The game will feature a modified version of the new Fox Engine[3]. For the first time, the game will feature and exclusive license for the AFC Champions League.[4]
Fox Engine
The Fox Engine is a cross-platform game engine built by Kojima Productions for use in future titles developed by the team. It is believed that this engine is designed for the next generation of video games. The engine was revealed by Konami on June 3, 2011. The engine's development began after the completion of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with the goal of making the "best engine in the world."
The engine will make it possible for Kojima Productions to develop multiplatform games with a significantly shortened development time and has been described as the first step for the developer to move away from development for a single platform. The engine is named after FOXHOUND, a fictional military unit from the Metal Gear series, wherein is also a reflection of Kojima Productions itself, which based its company logo on FOX's fox emblem.
However, Konami are using the modified version of the fox engine to suit football games. The engine will give Konami a last shot in beating arch rival EA Sports. The engine will bring the following features in the game:
1. Barycenter Physics & Ball control This feature will improve animations when making first touches and will give full control of your player. The Barycenter physics will give you three times the control of a player than in Pro Evolution Soccer 2013.A player with a lower center of gravity will have control and hard to push off the ball.Strength will not be a huge weakness as in Pro Evolution Soccer 2013.
2. Better physicality This means players will fight for the ball and along this comes a new tackling system. Defenders will be able to tug and pull shirts because shorts will be separate from the player model.
Alongside these main features there will be many improvements in game modes to be confirmed. The engine will be a great innovation. Players will look more realistic and the official PlayStation magazine states the gameplay is more fluid than FIFA 13. The engine promises editable camera and realistic player models. Squad emulator will allow a team to adapt to any of your custom tactics.
