WEP problem

Hello, Codename Lisa. You have new messages at Talk:List of features removed in Windows 8.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited VLC media player, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page AAC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 14:37, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Snapping screenshot

I was making a generic screenshot showing the Wikipedia app docked to a blank, wallpaper-less desktop with LibreOffice open, cropped to not show the taskbar. ViperSnake151  Talk  22:08, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting changes just to add to them?

I don't understand why you reverted my changes to Windows NT 3.1 and then added on to what I had changed in the first place, along with introducing more typos and grammatical errors. Wouldn't it have made more sense to create a new revision rather than revert my changes? Dstruct2k (talk) 20:25, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Reverted your changes? The last thing I did in that article was to fix a couple of mistakes in System Requirements section. I haven't made any reverts there since 2012. I'd appreciate a clarification. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 09:21, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. Right now, I am checking the article history and looking at the diff of the editor before you and me. As you can see, it hardly resembles a revert. But my guess is that something that you didn't like is changed. Perhaps if you tell me what it is, we can discuss it. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 09:31, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I had a notification from Wikipedia stating that my changes had been reverted, perhaps it just sent me the wrong kind of notification? Anyway, not a big deal, I was just curious about what had happened. The section in question seems fine now, thanks for getting back to me. Dstruct2k (talk) 20:12, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Required ur attention

Today before 25-30 mins ago after visiting a website i.e, Windows 8.1 Full Features List, in Softpedia news page, i decided to edit and update the info. according to that website in Windows 8 article of English Wikipedia. So i did it, my editing lies in the "Windows 8.1" sub-section of "Updates" section OR here is the link to that article, [1]. Now the question arises is every thing correct ? Or there is still something that needs to be improved ? If there is something U R PERMITED BY ME TO EDIT AND CORRECT THOSE MISTAKES.Himanis Das  talk 06:18, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Server 2012 R2 AfD

Hello. You proposed this on the grounds that it's purely speculative. While I don't advocate keeping the article (I !voted merge to Windows Server 2012), I don't think it's speculative anymore, or at least we can modify the article to only include verifiable information. Multiple third-party independent reliable sources have covered officially-announced features of the OS.--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:20, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. That's true. But I still think its infobox is unreferenced and must be deleted, especially since several Microsoft developers have indicated that Microsoft is working on a cloud-based kernel. So just writing "Hybrid kernel" or "shared source" without a citation is wrong. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 05:23, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Which is correct. I'll wait until the AfD finishes. If the result is keep, I'll go fix up the infobox.--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:32, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, long time no see. Have you move on to another project site? Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 05:39, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've shifted a lot of my activity to Wikidata, but I hope to resume content building here later this summer.--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:41, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, I seem to remember you had an obsession with becoming an admin and you did become an admin on that site. Well, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it... In fact, good luck. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 05:51, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's an obsession that I want to drop from my image; I don't plan to run again until about a year from now.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:00, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wish you good luck anyway. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 06:15, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Jasper. I have come up with a rule of thumb for myself: An article that will eventually be created should never be nominated for deletion merely on the bases of WP:CRYSTAL or WP:GNG. I hope I have made clear, however, that this personal rule does not apply when the article contains significant amounts of unverifiable rumor, very weak original research, offensive contents or other significant problems besides CRYSTAL and GNG that cannot be solved by editing alone. (Something like Windows 9 article that even had a features list!) Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 19:16, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dogmaticeclectic, again.

He, again, reverted my long-standing edits to Microsoft Office 365 by claiming them to be "vandalism". He's become aggressive again, I see. ViperSnake151  Talk  15:50, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! Now I can show this message to administrators as evidence of your collaboration with this user for nefarious purposes. Dogmaticeclectic (talk) 15:53, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Viper. It is sad indeed. Simply connecting the word "vandalism" with any editor of good standing is uncivil. Perhaps User:Bbb23 should see this case, as well as this diff. A couple of days ago, Dogmaticeclectic, intent on accomplishing this diff, conducted another edit war. As much as I hate comment on contributors, I think we may need to have a WP:RFCC. I hope things do not find their way into arbitration committee. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 17:06, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're one to talk about deeming edits vandalism, aren't you? Perhaps I should have reported your WP:3RR violation after all... Dogmaticeclectic (talk) 17:09, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Internet Explorer 10.0.x

Internet Explorer 10.0.1 has been released, back in 2012. So has version 10.0.2. Version 10.0.3, 10.0.4, 10.0.5 and 10.0.6 are all released this year. Take a look at the "About Internet Explorer" screen, if you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8, it will notice that you are on IE 10.0.5 or 10.0.6 (depends if you already have updated). http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads6/51b8cfc837f84/51b8cfc837b9e-Knipsel.PNG --YannickFran (talk) 19:46, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Microsoft Word 2013 Icon.png)

Thanks for uploading File:Microsoft Word 2013 Icon.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:09, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On proprietary software and closed source software

Hi! I noticed you (partially) reverted my edit. I also notice that it was you who introduced "proprietary software" == "closed source software" into the article originally asking to correct you if you're wrong. Well, you are: You see, while all closed source software is proprietary, not all proprietary software is closed source. As an example of the latter there is Microsoft's shared source model. So the claim the two concepts are synonyms is wrong and needs to be removed. Palosirkka (talk) 10:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Actually I am not the original contributor: Check Closed-source log. The attempt to redirect closed-source to Proprietary software goes back to 01:33, 15 October 2008.
Now, I know about Microsoft's shared source. It is an example of closed source. "Shared" and "closed" are not antonyms here. Even Sysinternals line of product which has made a portion of its source code available to the general public is closed source. "Closed source" is created retrospectively as an antonym to open source; it means no outside contribution is accepted.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 17:41, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Windows Stores

Maybe we should count them as a sub-section on Microsoft Store, since they are clearly an off-shoot of their first-party retail operations. ViperSnake151  Talk  20:24, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FFmpeg binaries

Where did you find FFmpeg binaries on http://ffmpeg.org? I am quite sure that the FFmpeg project does not provide any binaries, there are (several) people who provide binaries based on FFmpeg sources but not the FFmpeg project. Regarding cross-platform: Please read the first sentence on the FFmpeg homepage, the relevant point is that FFmpeg is not BSD, Linux, OSX and Windows-only but (also) supports DOS, WindowsCE, Android, Plan9 and Solaris (and possibly others that I forgot atm) or in other words: I cannot imagine how software can be more cross-platform while the WP page now indicates it is provided for a very small set of operating systems and hardware platforms but this is not what the FFmpeg project provides (because it does not provide any binaries at all). May I suggest that you revert your changes?--Regression Tester (talk) 00:06, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FOPE/EOP

What is the factual error I made on the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange/ Exchange Online Protection page? I added an authoritative citation and now see that it was announced in 2012 not 2013. But other than that I don't see why it was reverted rather than corrected. You can see I don't make a lot of edits so I want to understand how I can improve the edits I do make. TXAggie (talk) 16:00, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
