Template:Infobox reality music competition The fifth season of The Voice is an upcoming American reality singing competition which will premiere September 23, 2013 on NBC.[1] Coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton will be returning, reinstating the original lineup after Aguilera and Green were replaced by Shakira and Usher in the previous season.[2][3] Carson Daly will also return to host the show.[4][5] For the battle rounds, Adam Levine brought in OneRepublic's lead singer, Ryan Tedder; Cee Lo Green brought in Miguel; Christina Aguilera brought in Ed Sheeran; while Blake Shelton brought in the legendary vocalist, Cher.

Taping

The Blind Auditions were taped from July 9 to July 12,[13] the Battle rounds were taped on August 13 and 14, with the original line-up of coaches reprising their roles. The knockouts were taped the following week on August 22 and 23.

Coaches and hosts

Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will return this season, alongside Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.[14][15] In May 2013, Shakira announced she would not be returning for the fifth season.[16] It was also announced that Usher would not be returning for the fifth season either. However, Usher and Shakira will be returning in the sixth season.[17] Carson Daly will return as host, but Christina Milian will not return due to competing on Dancing with the Stars.

Episode 1: Blind Auditions Part 1 (September 23)

The fifth season two-hour premiere aired on Monday, September 23, 2013. The coaches performed "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" at the start of the show.
