The final draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup will take place on 6 December 2013 at the Costa do Sauípe Resort, Mata de São João in Bahia,[1] at 13:00 local time (UTC−3).[2] In preparation for the draw, the qualified teams will be seeded and organised into pots.

Seeding

Seeding for the draw is based on the October 2013 FIFA World Ranking[3] and not the November 2013 FIFA World Ranking, the most recent ranking at the time of the draw. By using a month old ranking the teams involved in the November qualifying play-off matches are not given an unfair advantage.[4][5]

The draw

Teams will be organized into four pots of eight teams. The seven highest ranked teams will be seeded and placed in Pot 1, alongside the host nation Brazil (who is predetermined to be in Group A).[6] How the other pots will be and the format of the draw will not be decided before December 3.[7]
