Hello Kitty and Friends (1993)

Hello Kitty and Friends is an OVA which was exclusively on home video in Japan and the United States in 1993. It also ran in reruns on Nick Jr., Toon Disney and PAX TV. On the show, Kitty is a little girl kitten living with her mother, father, and twin sister Mimmy, who is identical to Kitty but has different coloured clothes and wears her red bow under the opposite ear. 13 episodes were only aired in the States.

ADV Films adapted the third season's shorts into a tv series in the US. (who also own the video/DVD rights to Hello Kitty and Friends) The show was the longest running weekly children's program in TV Tokyo's history, and aired on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 AM JST throughout its 12-year run. Following the series finale on March 29, 2011, it was immediately replaced by Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream in its timeslot on April 9, 2011. Reruns and recap episodes of the series from various prime time anime were shown in the show's timeslot for the next two years before the Japanese dub of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (マイリトルポニー〜トモダチは魔法〜) began broadcasting on April 2, 2013.
