SuperLiga

With a sixth-place finish in 2009, along with finishing in the MLS Cup Western Conference Semifinals, Chivas USA earned a Group Stage spot in the North American SuperLiga. Chivas USA was drawn with Mexican clubs Puebla and Pachuca. Additionally, they were drawn with fellow-MLS club Houston Dynamo.

The Goats opened up pool play against Puebla at The Home Depot Center. Chivas fell early on in this game, thanks to a sixth-minute opener from Nicolás Olivera. Puebla would double their lead in the 62nd minute with a goal from Álvaro González. The recently acquired Michael Umaña scored a late goal for the Goats, but it was too little, too late. Chivas would lose 2-1 in the end.
