- I've been commons filemover since Sept 2013 (and admin since Feb 2014), and has moved +1200 files. I sometimes encounter rename request which reason is "This file duplicates with enwiki", and we have to decline them per our policy. I just decline with edit summary instructing to request rename on here, but it will be more faster and easier to do it myself. — revimsg 15:12, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- Done I see no problem with this. SUL account confirmed, plenty of experience with relevant file moving policies and guidelines. — MusikAnimal talk 17:36, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

- While cleaning up articles to Wikipedia standards, I often see files with non-descriptive names (e.g. images with camera-given names, meaningless abbreviations, or serial numbers instead of model numbers). I feel I could fix these situations as I see them, and update all instances in which the file is called according to the file-mover guidelines. – voidxor (talk | contrib) 01:06, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Not done I do not see significant experience working with files on your account here. To request a rename, just slap a {{Rename media}} template on with your request and someone will review and complete it for you. After you have gained more experience with files you can re-request this permission here. — xaosflux Talk 03:52, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Pardon my ignorance, but what types of experience can one accrue with files, other than uploading and editing them (both of which I've done)? I'm honestly not sure how else I can work with files, absent the ability to move them. Or do you just like to see more experience uploading? Thanks! – voidxor (talk | contrib) 06:10, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Voidxor, by requesting renames you can show that you have a need to rename files yourself, and show your understanding of rename criteria. - Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 06:18, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

- Ah, that makes sense. I'll get some practice in. – voidxor (talk | contrib) 05:59, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

- I have uploaded roughly 40 files on Wikipedia. I would like to move files on Wikipedia. Esmost πк 11:13, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
- Not done. I can't see that you have any need for this permission. You've only made 52 edits to the file namespace, most of which were uploads (which require no special rights) and none of which were rename requests. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:45, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
