Brandi Lynn Glanville (born November 16, 1972) is an American television personality, The New York Times best-selling author and former model. She is best known for joining the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in its second season on the Bravo cable network.

Early life and modeling

Glanville was born in Salinas, California, the middle child of Judith Ann (Swinehart) and Guy Dale Glanville,[2] and was raised in Sacramento, California. She has an older sister, Tricia, and a younger brother, Michael.[3]

At the age of 16, Glanville moved to Paris, France and began modeling after she was discovered and signed by Elite Model Management and flown to work in Europe, Los Angeles and New York. By the next year, she was taking part in Paris runway shows.[3] During a 17-year modeling career, she appeared in the pages of Glamour and Cosmopolitan and worked for design couture houses including Chanel, Giorgio Armani, and Gucci.[4]

Personal life

Glanville married actor Eddie Cibrian, known primarily for his work on TV series including Third Watch, CSI: Miami on May 12, 2001. The couple has two sons together, Mason and Jake.[5]

In early 2009, reports surfaced that Cibrian was having an affair with married country singer LeAnn Rimes, his costar in the Lifetime made for TV movie Northern Lights. Though Glanville initially stood by her husband in public and attended counseling with him, Rimes took their relationship public in August 2009, one week after Rimes separated from her husband.[6]

Eddie Cibrian also carried on an affair with a waitress named Scheana Marie Jancan. Initially Jancan denied knowing Cibrian was married, but later recanted this statement and appeared on "Access Hollywood" to announce the affair on television in lieu of calling Glanville. Glanville then filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalized on September 30, 2010.[7]

On the premiere episode of Lisa Vanderpump's series, "Vanderpump Rules", Brandi agreed to meet briefly with Scheanna to allow her to apologize, instead Scheanna bragged smugly of the details of the affair rather than showing contrition. Vanderpump Rules on the Bravo Network.[8]

Glanville is now happily single and dating.

The Real Housewives

In 2011, Glanville was introduced by an acquaintance, Adrienne Maloof, in Season Two of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Glanville originally appeared on the series as a "Friend of the Housewives" in Episode Four of Season Two. Maloof introduced her to the cast at a party, "Brandi's going through a divorce and I wanted to show her a good time." [9] The meeting got off to a rocky start: Lisa Vanderpump was immediately suspicious of Glanville because of Glanville's association with Vanderpump's enemy and former houseguest Cedric Martinez; cast members ridiculed Glanville for donning a high-heeled shoe while on crutches at a charity cocktail event.

In the seventh episode, the relationship between Glanville and the Richards sisters began its descent with Kim and Kyle acting stuck up and giving Brandi the cold shoulder as they spent most of their night in the bathroom. Brandi made a crack about Kim's addiction problems. When word got back to the Richards, the two attacked her. One of their grievances, besides her choice of footwear, being that Glanville's toddler had urinated in Adrienne's yard during a children's pool party. Glanville defended herself by questioning Kim's mental state, as she was an alcoholic at the time, pushing Kyle's finger out of her face while she was on crutches, and accusing Kim of doing "crystal meth in the bathroom all night long".

In the fourteenth episode, Glanville invited the women to a friend's beach house for a night of fun. The night takes an unexpected turn when a hysterical and possibly inebriated Taylor Armstrong gets into a verbal and physical confrontation with several of other guests and Glanville, who is also drunk, throws Armstrong out.

Glanville also appeared in the three-part reunion. During the show it was revealed that Lisa Vanderpump, Camille Grammer, and Brandi had become close friends. It is here that the initial issues between Maloof, Vanderpump, and Glanville emerge.

Bravo announced on April 29, 2012 that Camille Grammer would not return for Season Three and that Glanville would take her place as an official Housewife.[10] In October 2012 it was announced Brandi was an "official Housewife" for Season 3 to air in November.

Season 3 commences with pre-existing tension between Adrienne and Brandi as well as between Adrienne and Lisa.

In the sixth episode, Brandi reveals some very "personal" information about Adrienne. Bravo edits out the content, leaving viewers to google online to determine what was said via gossip sites.[11] One of the rumors was that Adrienne used a surrogate to have her twin sons. Adrienne finds out her private family business had been exposed before Mauricio's, a realtor, hosts a party. The Nassifs confront Glanville at the party.

In the seventh episode of Season Three, before a dinner party at Kyle Richards, Brandi is again questioned and does not express remorse regarding a personal revelation about Adrienne. Faye Resnick confronts Glanville questioning Glanville's actions, personality and motives. Resnick's then simplistic advice was for Brandi to send flowers to Adrienne, a simple gesture of apology. Brandi left the party.

In the ninth episode of season 3, Brandi discovers her name is on a cease and desist letter sent to a mutual friend and dishonestly tells Kyle and Yolanda that Adrienne is "suing her". She announces this to the rest of the group during restaurant dinner party.[12] The group discusses Adrienne's use of a lawsuit, when in season 2 she had personally disapproved of such behavior when stating that 'Friends don't sue friends.' when responding to Russell serving a lawsuit to Camille for statements Camille made.[13] A verbal confrontation occurs between Mauricio and Brandi about how Brandi should first initiate reconciliation, leading Brandi to break down in a screaming and profanity laced tirade. Then Mauricio and Ken debate back and forth regarding Brandi's motive to reveal the information in the first place. Lisa chimes in and cites when Adrienne made disparaging slanderous statements about Lisa during the Season 2 reunion. It is speculated Lisa put Brandi up to revealing Adrienne's personal life[14] The fight then continues back and forth with Mauricio and Brandi.

In the eleventh episode, Brandi hosts Night School 4 Girls class in Las Vegas.[15]

During Season 4 Glanville sparked controversy when she made a comment to fellow housewife Joyce Giraud while in Palm Springs. Giraud commented that she could not swim when asked by Glanville to get into a pool, to which Glanville responded, "You're a black person", offending Giraud (who is Puerto Rican) and shocking her cast mates. This led to Glanville being attacked and condemned by fans, media, and housewives from other cities, specifically Kenya Moore of the Atlanta franchise.[16] Glanville has since apologized for her comments, referring to the joke as "inappropriate" rather than "racist".[17]

On January 14, 2014, Brandi once again caused controversy when interviewing comedians Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine during her podcast Brandi Glanville Unfiltered. During the podcast she joked that she "wanted to be molested as a child" and went on to joke about an incident involving her sister and high school principal. This sparked outrage among fans of Real Housewives and fans of Glanville on Twitter. Glanville later apologized for her comment.[18][19] Bravo has yet to comment on the issue.

Book

Glanville was offered a book deal in 2012 by Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. “Drinking and Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders”[20] will be released February 12, 2013. The book title is a play on her use of Twitter. Glanville, at the time of editing, has a Twitter following of over 301,000 followers.[21] The book itself is a frank, humorous memoir regarding a very public break-up, surviving infidelity - mixed with social media, and moving on in the aftermath. The book launch ensued the week of February 12, culminating in a large number of TV interviews including the "Today Show", "Anderson Cooper Live", "Howard Stern", and "The View". Glanville co-hosted a pre-Academy Awards special for "On The Red Carpet". Articles and reviews about her book have appeared in a number of publications including an instructional article in "Glamour" on spotting infidelity. The book is offered online at Barnes & Noble in the Nook version and on Amazon.com in hardback and e-versions.

In less than two weeks the book was No. 8 on the New York Times's Best Sellers List and No. 1 on the New York Times's e-List. The book also reached No. 2 in Biographies & Memoirs in Amazon's Bestseller categories.
