Mimi Faust
Mimi Faust is a reality television star and businesswoman perhaps most famous for starring on the VH1 program Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Originally appearing as the long-time girlfriend of producer Stevie J she has since gone on to make a name for herself, most notably for her 2014 sex tape with then boyfriend Nikko Smith. In 2015, Faust admitted that the sex tape was in fact planned/staged and not leaked as she previously proclaimed.[1] She is also the owner of the Keep It Clean, Inc. cleaning service which a commercial/estate cleaning service in Atlanta.[2]
Early life
Born Oluremi James, she was raised with a mother active in the church of Scientology.[3] In a sit-down special with Egypt Sherrod in 2014, Faust discussed being abandoned by her mother for the sake of the church. She stated of the church “They put me out at 13. They actually came to me and said I was a freeloader because I ate their food and slept there and I wasn't indeed working for them.” Faust did not meet her biological father until she was sixteen years old. In fact, her birth was the result of an affair; Faust grew up believing that another man was her birth father. She would go on to take her biological father's last name after developing a relationship with him.[4] Her father later died in 2014.[5]
Career
In 2003, Faust appeared in the music video for singer Pharrell Williams' single Frontin', which featured the rapper Jay-Z. Actress Lauren London and model Lanisha Cole were also featured in the video. Faust would later go to establish the Keep It Clean Inc. cleaning service in the Stone Mountain Area of Atlanta, GA. In 2012, Faust joined the cast of the VH1 spin-off show of Love & Hip Hop entitled Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. She was cast alongside the father of her daughter Stevie J, singer K. Michelle, rapper Rasheeda, musician/actress Karlie Redd, rapper Joseline Hernandez and the mother of rapper Lil Scrappy's daughter, Erica Dixon. Faust's friend Ariane Davis also was cast in a recurring role on the show. The program showcased her relationship with Stevie J as well as the pair's daughter Eva. It also depicted the love triangle between the couple and cast mate Joseline Hernandez. Faust is managed by Sandy Lal.[6] Sandy Lal is also Faust's Entertainment lawyer.[7]
2014 sex tape
In 2014, a sex tape featuring Faust and then boyfriend Nikko Smith was released through Vivid Entertainment entitled Scandal in Atlanta. It has since gone on to be one of the most popular sex tapes released by the porn company.[8] It was nominated for an AVN award for best celebrity sex tape in 2015,[9] losing out to Tila Tequila. The category also included Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham.[10] Faust and Smith had originally stated that their luggage containing the sextape was stolen with the tape being sent to Vivid entertainment through an anonymous source.[11] After scrutiny from the public as well as those close to her, such as friend and cast mate Ariane Davis, Faust admitted that tape was indeed staged.[12] Also, Faust allegedly made upwards of $100,000 from the sales of the sex tape.[13]
