Computers In Personnel deletion notice

Hi Eteethan,

The only reason we've been removing deletion notices is that they're being made by unregistered users and/or competitors. If the notice was placed by an admin, we would be looking to improve the page as per their guidelines - however, we've been far too busy removing erroneous additions and edits by unregistered users.

If the page could be protected, we would be able to update it as per your guidelines and, if necessary, re-submit for review.

Thanks,

Dan — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 15:17, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You must not remove an AfD tag from an article. Instead, please add your opinion to the discussion page. Eteethan(talk) 15:20, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eteethan,

Can anyone add an AfD tag? If so, how can we stop random people from continually marking our page for deletion? In addition, I'm very comfortable with technology, but the process for discussing this sort of thing has me baffled. Where and how can I add information to the discussion page? Thanks, Dan — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 15:23, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@DWhitmore: Certain users who file AfD reports continually will be blocked. I am going to investigate this further and will tell you results. Do you work for Computers In Personnel? Eteethan(talk) 16:02, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eteethan - I do, yes. When I originally created the page back in 2008, it was an entirely impartial entry, which is why I believe it's been fine until now. The only reason for removing recent additions/edits are because they were inaccurate/defamatory to the organisation. Appreciate this may seem to be a COI, however the article was approved over 7 years ago; I was unaware that a COI issue could exist at that time. Thanks, Dan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 16:06, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To answer Dan's other question: the deletion discussion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Computers In Personnel < click that link to go there, and then you add your comments to it by clicking "Edit", much as you do on other Wikipedia pages. I suggest you check out Wikipedia:Guide to deletion#General advice before you do so. (Oh, and before you call your own work "entirely impartial", you may want to recheck it; calling one's own company an "innovative leader" calls that judgement into question) --Nat Gertler (talk) 16:47, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Nat - I'm confused, our page doesn't say that we're an 'innovate leader'? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 16:56, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be more suitable if our entry was more similar to that of one of our competitors - e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MidlandHR ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 16:59, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

t most certainly said the company was an "innovative leader" when you created it, which was when you were claiming impartiality for; it was another user who removed that about a month later. At this point, the question of "what should the article be like" comes second to "is it suitable there's an article at all?", which is the matter being raised in the deletion discussion. Currently, no one involved in the discussion has found reason that this company should have an article. --Nat Gertler (talk) 17:28, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Nat. Just so that I can understand the difference, can you explain why a very similar organisation to us would be allowed a profile (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MidlandHR), but we would not? Would a user be able to completely amend our entry, so that it reflected the type or kind of information that they have provided? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 08:31, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

To add to this - could you explain to us what the definition of a 'notable company' is? - we are frequently referred to as non-notable. Is it based on market share, turnover, employee count, longevity, something else? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DWhitmore (talkcontribs) 08:45, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You can find our guidelines on how we recognize a company to be notable at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). I'm not going to get into that other page at the moment; the fact that something currently has a page does not mean that it would necessarily pass inspection. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:33, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rhythmic Cirus

Hello Eteethan, I got your message on my Rhythmic circus edit. You see i am a fan of the group, and looking on their wiki page, I noticed information on their linup wasn't fully accurate. According to their website. http://rhythmiccircus.com/cast.php The guitarist's name is Alex Rossi and he also serves as one of the singers. the vocal percussionist/beatboxer heatbox also serves as a singer and he has even been known to play percussion instruments in the group(Most notably Congas and Snare drum) the article also left out that the group has a trumpet player named Aaron Wiener. I would like to recommend you look at the website link and bring back the changes i made, to improve the accuracy of the article. Thank you for reaching me Eteethan.

Recent Edit

Hi Eteethan,

My recent edit was on an account that used to be mine and that I have since lost the password to. I have a new account that I use exclusively, and honestly I wish this old one could just be deleted. I wanted to remove some personal information that as a high schooler I though would somehow be a good idea to put on the internet. But since I don't have the password to it anymore, there's no other way to remove it besides editing it from my new account. If that's against Wikipedia policy, please let me know. Thanks! AnandaBliss (talk) 01:26, 19 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited your contribution at László Csatáry ‎ to conform to Wikipedia's requirements for sourcing and neutral point of view. We cannot say in the voice of the encyclopedia that László Csatáry ‎is innocent. We can say only that an author wrote a book in which he claims to offer documentation to show that he is, and we must supply a reference to show that such a book exists and that it makes that claim. I have modified your contribution to conform to both of these requirements. You must stop threatening other editors here, legally or otherwise, especially when it is you who are contributing edits to the encyclopedia that violate Wikipedia's policies described above. If you continue to threaten other editors, you will be blocked from editing, and I will be the first to request that you be blocked. Understood? List of IndyCar Series Teams

Hi Eteethan, I noticed that you reverted all of my edits on the List of IndyCar Series teams page, saying that they weren't constructive. The reason that I made those edits was because a large majority of the information was either outdated, or seemed unnecessary. A fellow editor edited the article after my edits were undone and updated the section, so I have no desire to have my edits replaced or returned to the article, but I am still unsure as to why my edits were removed. Thank you for your help. 173.67.173.109 (talk) 00:48, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removing content and replacing it with "None" is very suspicious. Instead of doing this maybe start a discussion on the talk page. Eteethan(talk) 20:04, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The reason that I put "none" there was because there really weren't any at the present time, but there may be some in the future. And the talk page hasn't been used in nine years, but I see what you are saying. 173.67.173.109 (talk) 20:24, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. Route 178

Hi Eteethan, This is my first time and I'm not sure I understand all instructions. Thank you for your patience. On Dec 22, 2015, I noticed that a portion of information in the "History" section of "U.S. Route 178" that was missing from what I had read many times in the past. See below:

US 178 is built along one of the OLDEST NATIVE AMERICAN PATHS IN THE SOUTHEAST. It is recorded by the Smithsonian Institution's Bureau of Ethnology's 42nd Annual Report, 1924-1925 in a 1923 map section about the Indian trails of the southeast by William E. Myer. It is labeled trail #81 and starts at present-day Charleston and comes inland through Dorchester to the town of Orangeburg, S.C. along present-day US 178 until it intersects with present-day I-20 running from Columbia to Augusta. From this point, upcountry, US 178 has varied in its modern route from the route of the ancient trail though sections of it are still the same as the trail.

Presently it reads as follows: US 178 is built along and starts at present-day Charleston and comes inland through Dorchester to the town of Orangeburg, S.C. along present-day US 178 until it intersects with present-day I-20 running from Columbia to Augusta. From this point, upcountry, US 178 has varied in its modern route from the route of the ancient trail though sections of it are still the same as the trail.

The lines missing were as follows:

one of the OLDEST NATIVE AMERICAN PATHS IN THE SOUTHEAST. It is recorded by the Smithsonian Institution's Bureau of Ethnology's 42nd Annual Report, 1924-1925 in a 1923 map section about the Indian trails of the southeast by William E. Myer. It is labeled trail #81

I saw where I was allowed to edit and tried to correct this, just as it was originally. I then received a message that stated it appeared to be "non constructive". If I may be allowed, please refer to the source of information where the fact that was omitted is found on page 447 from the book <Annual report of the Bureau of American Ethnology to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution> as being labeled as Road #81, "The trail from Charleston to Fort Charlotte". A map is included on the next page illustrating <The Trail System of the Southeastern United States in the early Colonial Period by W.E. Myer in 1923>.

Other sources of use and description about this ancient trial can be found in the book, <Indians and Artifacts in the Southeast by Bert W. Bierer>. Also in the year 1770 parts of this Indian trail was constructed into a road as found in the <Statues at Large of South Carolina, Acts relating to Roads, Bridges and Ferries, page 233 Roman Numeral I>. The road can be seen in use during the Amerian Revolution, with one source one being the book <Ninety Six: The Struggle for the South Carolina Back Country" by Robert D. Bass> when Lord Rawdon was on this way from Charleston through Orangeburg to Fort Ninety Six to relieve Col. Cruger. <Maps used as an instrument for teaching in schools> show Lord Rawdon used the very road that matches with the route of what is now part of Highway 178.

History is amazing to see and Wikipedia is a wonderful source for many people to see what once was. I would like to urge you to reconsider returning the omitted information that matches with the Bureau of Ethnology dated 1924-1925 to the Wikipedia website about Highway 178 under the category "History".

Thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter. 173.93.155.211 (talk) 13:12, 6 January 2016 (UTC)M Williamson173.93.155.211 (talk) 13:12, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Richview Middle School

Richview Middle School is a real and public school. I don't understand why we can't make a wiki for our school. Darre123 (talk) 02:15, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What's the purpose of your changes to this? I redirected a completely non-notable middle school article to the school board rather than having it deleted. There seems to be no point in labelling a redirect as a stub since there is nothing to expand. There's only slightly more use in labelling it as an orphan. Why ask people to track down any references to this school just so they can add a link to a redirect? The only article I see that refers to this school is the school board article, which would make for a circular redirect. The only other likely article is the town article, which does not list any middle schools. As for expanding "Redr" to "This is a redirect" they both expand to exactly the same thing, but knock yourself out. Meters (talk) 02:16, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
