Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Mouse Trouble, did not appear constructive and has been or will be undone. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to The Cat Concerto does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Aspects (talk) 01:28, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete requests for files

I am not an admin, so I really can't do much. Both files were deleted as they were orphaned fair use images. Can you re-upload them? They need to have fair use rational added during the upload and the files need to be on their respective page. I don't know if they can be undeleted.

Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:24, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible to undelete this image, but I don't believe that undeletion would be a good idea, because the image is merely a pair of random screenshots, and an image currently in the article, File:Super Mario 64 DS-gameplay.jpg, does a better job of fulfilling the same purpose. Nyttend (talk) 02:02, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You just created the description page, without uploading anything. Please don't create pages in the file namespace (any page beginning with "File:") except by uploading an image; if you create it by just entering text, the page will always qualify for immediate deletion. Nyttend (talk) 02:24, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My comments about Mario64dscourtyardlwm.jpg also apply to Fattymariosm64ds.jpg — the image currently in the article does a much better job of fulfilling the same purpose, and the fair-use criteria prohibit us from using two non-free images when one would suffice. Nyttend (talk) 02:28, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't upload anything: you just created the description page. Uploads are performed by going to Special:Upload, selecting a file from your computer to upload, writing the description page there, and actually uploading the file. The description page is just a bunch of metadata for the file itself, and metadata without a file is useless; that's why it's subject to deletion. Nyttend (talk) 02:56, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Jerry and the Lion. Your edits continue to appear to constitute vandalism and have been automatically reverted.

  • If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place {{Help me}} on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Jerry and the Lion was changed by YoshiFan155 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.879101 on 2016-07-10T07:15:29+00:00 .

As Nyttend has already pointed out to you, you are not uploading files but just creating a description page. Also screenshots from cartoons are non-free and will require a full fair use rationale adding including, as has also already been explained to you, how they meet all 10 of the criteria at WP:NFCCP especially #8. Nthep (talk) 20:25, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop saying you want them restoring so you can "work on them". The only work would be to write a full fair use rationale for each but before any admin is going to restore them, you are going to have to produce that rationale. Please read Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline and come up with a rationale as per the examples on that page before asking anyone to restore the images. Removing posts made by others

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:11, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tom & Jerry images

I'm really disappointed to see that after all the messages I and others have given you, you don't appear to be understanding the non-free use criteria and have not attempted to ensure that the images meet the criteria. It is not just a question of adding images to a page and saying "it's not unused anymore, everything is ok". Every image has to meet all ten of the criteria. File:Tom & Jerry-Piano Concerto.jpg has no free use rationale (FUR) at all so is now nominated for deletion under WP:CSD#F6. There is a seven day grace period to sort this out. File:FlyingSorceress3a.jpg and File:TomandJerryTitleCard3.jpg. While they have FUR, neither of these explains how criteria NFCC#3a (minimal number of images on a page) and NFCC#8 (Contextual significance). Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. To put it another way answer these two questions

  1. What is the reason for having more than one free image on a page?
  2. How does seeing the image on the page, help in understanding the significance of the cartoon episode the article is about?

You must address those issues in such a way that others agree that the FUR is valid or else the images will be deleted and you will be on very shaky grounds if you ask for them or any others to be undeleted again in future.

At the moment I am still assuming good faith about your editing and putting this correspondence down to your inexperience but that will only last while you show some attempt to comply with Wikipedia policy. Although I have given you the links before, for the sake of completeness

If you are worried about getting it wrong on the file page then create it in you sandbox User:YoshiFan155/Sandbox and I or others will review it for you. But, if you want the files to remain the onus is on you to provide the necessary degree of information, not for others to do it for you. Nthep (talk) 15:30, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Marole3, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Re: Undelete File:Fattymariosm64ds.jpg, File:Mario64dscourtyardlwm.jpg, and File:SmittenKitten4.jpg

I'm not an administrator, so I can't undelete images. Trivialist (talk) 00:05, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

YoshiFan why are you asking for other images to be undeleted when you still haven't addressed the issues relating to the images that have been undeleted at your request? Nthep (talk) 08:29, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
