NPP & AfC

After 5 years of unstructured discussion since ACTRIAL, a dedicated venue has been created for combined discussion about NPP & AfC where a work group is also being composed to develop recommendations for necessary changes to policies and related software. It is 'not an RfC, it is a call for genuinely interested users who have significant experience in these areas to join a truly proactive work group. There is some reading to be done before signing up. See: Wikipedia:The future of NPP and AfC.

She is not writing for herself! She saved my sister from taking her own life, due to cyber bullying. After that she became my mentor and I am simply using her account to make this page for her. She has helped a lot of women and men. The only reason she signed to be on the show the daily push is so she could reach a lot more people (since the show is worldwide) on cyberstalking. She has just recently put her name with the case. You deleting this only proves one thing and one thing only, that you believe that cyber stalking is not a crime. You are not allowing people to know they have a voice. If I need to created my own account to clear up any confusion please let me know, bc I am writing his not her. Unless you want women to stay silent about it then put it back up. Hanged will be made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Krisdegioia (talkcontribs) 19:05, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Krisdegioia: Wikipedia is not here to help her "reach a lot more people". That is not what an encyclopedia is for, see Wikipedia:Advocacy. I have replied in detail on your talk page. JohnCD (talk) 19:46, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Userfying portal and subpages

In January 2016, you reverted your move of Portal:Deep Web to User:Rezonansowy/Deep Web Portal after closing the MfD, but forgot to redo this move with subpages. Can you please move Portal:Deep Web, its talk page, and their subpages to User:Rezonansowy/Deep Web Portal, User talk:Rezonansowy/Deep Web Portal, and the corresponding user and user talk subpages now w/o redirects? 24.205.24.240 (talk) 02:21, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Sorry about that, I don't know why I didn't finish the job at the time! JohnCD (talk) 16:59, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sock

I didn't get this. I've never come across this user – is he a sock of Padmalakshmisx? Vensatry (talk) 16:01, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vensatry: sorry, I created that wrong. I meant to add it to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kichappan, which I have now done. I reckoned that it was Kichappan, based on the signature, but he put your name on two Padmalakshmisx socks as well as three of his own, so its not entirely clear which member of your fan club this is. Are the two related? JohnCD (talk) 16:14, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've lost count on the number of Padmal socks that I've reported. I think I've come across Kichappan, but haven't interacted with him though. Vensatry (talk) 16:21, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Drew Zingg

Hello.. I would like to post a page on Drew Zingg, a guitarist. I see that there formerly was a page, but it was deleted for a copyright infringement. Is it possible for me to see the previous page to see if I can just modify it? The website in question seems to have nothing to do with Mr. Zingg. Not sure what happened there. I have discovered several articles on the web that I could use to write / or modify a new and improved page. Please let me know. Thanks Ncmtman77 (talk) 01:33, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ncmtman77: that website has obviously been abandoned, but you can read the exact same text as the deleted article here - it's evidently his standard bio spiel. By all means make an article: read WP:Your first article and WP:MUSICBIO for advice, and note particularly the need for references to verify what the article says. Don't copy from other sites, and I don't advise just trying to modify this one - beware of WP:Close paraphrasing. It's at least five years old, anyway, so there may be more to say. My pleasure. Wikipedia and its rules and customs are a bit of a jungle, but fortunately there are human guides. JohnCD (talk) 19:54, 15 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see that author username User:Noil01 is the same that the artist pseudonym in DeviantART (self-promotion). And it has no more contributions. It doesn't even have article in Spanish, in Mexico is not so well known as to have encyclopedic value. Xzit (talk) 16:33, 15 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Xzit: well spotted. Another time, it would help the reviewing admin if you make a note of something like that on the article talk page. I still don't consider A11 appropriate, because he didn't "invent/coin/discover" himself. Autobiography is not directly a cause for deletion, but it makes one look very hard at sources and claims of importance. {{db-person}} would be appropriate, and I have added that. I didn't delete it directly myself, because except it 100% certain cases it's best to get another pair of eyes, so we'll see what another admin thinks. User:The Film Scorer and Researcher

Hi JohnCD. You previously issued a create4 warning for User:The Film Scorer and Researcher. I had them on my watchlist because of a uw I posted about non-free image use and I noticed this edit to their userpage. I took a look at it does seem that they might be misunderstanding what kind of content is allowed on userpages. Anyway, I left a userpage warning on their talk page, and then took a look at the edit history just to see if they had been adding non-free content to any other articles. I found List of Joaquin Timothy Tan's quotes which seems to be a list of quotes that this particular editor likes. I tagged it for speedy per A7, but it seems more like an extension of this editor's userpage than an actual article. Anyway, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look at this editor's userpage and the list article just to make sure I am not misreading things. If I did, please feel free to removed the userpage warning and the speedy tag I added to the list article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:04, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: Blocked as WP:NOTHERE, thanks. JohnCD (talk) 21:43, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you taking a look. If this editor is really 13, then perhaps they just misunderstood what Wikipedia is about and will eventually decide to return as a productive editor. If they are not 13, then maybe they really should be somewhere else. Is there, btw, a minimum age that an editor has to be in order to register an account? -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:31, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, anonymity means there would be no way to enforce it. The youngest I have seen was (or claimed to be) 6. They get pointed to WP:YOUNG, and anything that gives too much personal information gets suppressed. I did that for this userpage once before, and have just requested it again. Wikipedia:TANJ listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Wikipedia:TANJ. Since you had some involvement with the Wikipedia:TANJ redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Elvey(tc) 20:08, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I have commented there. JohnCD (talk) 14:07, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Liam loves lifts

Hi John, thanks for reverting the edits by this user on my user page, however I am curious as to how this sock got round my protection on my user page. Only auto confirmed editors are supposed to edit the page. It doesn't even look like he had 50 edits (although I'm not too sure to be honest). Weird. Thanks for your work! Class455 (talk) 20:16, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Class455: it only needs ten edits to be autoconfirmed, and this long-term socker has evidently decided it's worth the trouble. There is a new protection level, Extended confirmed protection, which is now allowed to be used if semi-protection has proved ineffective. Would you like me to apply that to your user page? JohnCD (talk) 14:07, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
JohnCD yes please! Wow, i didn't realise that you only need 10 edits to become autocomfirmed, thought it was 50. Thanks! Class455 (talk) 14:59, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. JohnCD (talk) 15:38, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to do with the car - the IP was a silly schoolboy saying his (named) friends were gay, and worse. JohnCD (talk) 17:02, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me rename my user name

Hello John,

Could you please help me rename my user name as you have mentioned in your message that it violates Wikipedia policies as it shows the Company name. I am new to Wikipedia and it's confusing as I am not getting any option to rename the user name. Also now, I see that user techtw does not exist.

Please help me fix this.

Thanks Ritesh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Techtw (talkcontribs) 18:29, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@RiteshRanjan: your account has evidently already been renamed and you are now user RiteshRanjan (talk). That's fine, but remember than in writing about TechTwigs or its people you still have a WP:Conflict of interest, and you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest. See the section "Disclosure" of Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. JohnCD (talk) 20:02, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How to get this article reviewed and publsihed

Dear John,

I appreciate your message and suggestions mentioned. If I would like somebody to review the article I have written and then get it published; how do I do that?

Thanks, Ritesh — Preceding unsigned comment added by RiteshRanjan (talkcontribs) 20:39, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The way to submit your draft for review is to click the blue button that says "Submit your draft for review!"
I doubt whether the single independent reference is enough for notability. I would advise removing the image of Jha with his sisters - they are not relevant to the article, and they make it look like a family Facebook page rather than an encyclopedia article. JohnCD (talk) 21:23, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks John

Dear John,

Thanks for your quick and valuable suggestions. As advised, I have removed the photo of Mr Jha with his sisters. Also, could you please let me know how I can add more credibility to this article as you have said single independent reference might not be sufficient for review. Could you please help me review this article by reviewing it as you are an experienced user and an active member in the community.

Thanks, Ritesh
