Greg Lawrance

Gregory Connell Lawrance is an American media and fashion entrepreneur and investor. Lawrance was known for co-founding pioneering athleisure brand NUMBER Lab.[1][2][3][4][5] He is the co-founder and CEO of social influencer licensing and marketing agency Ready Go Licensing.[6][7]

Early life & education

Lawrance was born on November 7 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Rochester[6][8] where he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.[6][8][9]  Other coursework included study through the University's Film and Media Studies Program,[6][8] graduate work in entrepreneurship at Rochester’s Simon School of Business[6][8][9] and piano instruction through Rochester's inter-departmental classical program at its top-ranked Eastman School of Music.[6][8][10] Lawrance crewed for the University’s sailing team, with which he competed in the annual U.S. Naval Academy’s McMillan Cup Regatta[6][8]—the oldest national collegiate sailing regatta in the U.S.[6][11]

Career

NUMBER Lab

In 2003, Lawrance co-founded (with CFDA member Luis Fernandez[12]) premium menswear brand: NUMBER Lab.[6][1][2][3][4][5] As one of the first athleisure brands—only RLX, Prada Sport and Zegna Sport co-existed in this whitespace at the time—NUMBER Lab has arguably earned Lawrance and Fernandez a place as pioneers of the athleisure apparel sector.[6]

What started-out as a "hobby" designing premium men's t-shirts evolved into a high-end, sport-inspired athleisure fashion brand.[6] NUMBER Lab was carried by top major and boutique retailers, including: Nordstrom;[6][13] Bloomingdale's;[6][14] Saks Fifth Avenue;[6][15] Fred Segal;[6] Ron Herman;[6] Equinox Fitness Clubs;[6][16] United Arrows[6] (Japan); TNT (Canada);[6] and Gotstyle (Canada).[6] The brand garnered praise from top fashion editors and key industry insiders, and was regularly featured in esteemed publications such as GQ,[6][17] Esquire,[6][18] Hypebeast[6][19], Men's Health,[6][20][21] Vogue,[6][22] New York Magazine,[6][23] The Wall Street Journal,[6][24] Paper Magazine,[6][25] Style.com[6][26] and Racked.com.[27] NUMBER Lab was featured on athletes and celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris,[6][28] Josh Duhamel,[6][29] Evan Longoria,[6][30] Harrison Ford,[6] Chris Pine[6][31] and Matt Bohmer.[6][32] In 2012, Annie Leibowitz photographed NUMBER Lab designs on actor Jonathan Groff for a two-page feature in the July issue of Vanity Fair.[6][33]

NUMBER Lab hosted high-profile presentations and runway shows during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.[6] The events were held at A-list venues in New York City including Milk Studios[6][34] and The Standard Hotel.[6][25][35] NUMBER Lab also secured sponsorships with major corporate partners like Gillette,[6][36][37] W Hotels[6][38] and M·A·C Cosmetics to co-finance its runway shows. In 2011, NUMBER Lab was invited to show at Aspen Fashion Week.[6][39][40] The same year, the company successfully opened and operated a one-year pop-up store in Manhattan's north Chelsea neighborhood.[6][41][42] In 2012, E! Entertainment Network covered the company's Fall-Winter 2012 runway show at Milk Studios[6][43] and later that spring, NUMBER Lab was accepted into the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Incubator Program[6][5][44]—in company with fellow brands/designers CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Johnathan Simikhai, Timo Weilland, Burkman Bros and Project Runway's Daniel Vosovic[6][45] (other notable program alumni include Prabal Gurung, Bibhu Mohapatra and Waris Ahluwalia-House of Waris.)[46]

READY GO Licensing

In 2016, Lawrance co-founded READY GO Licensing[6][47]—a full-service custom merchandise design (apparel, footwear, eyewear, cosmetics, fragrance), e-commerce and marketing agency serving exclusively the internet's most-popular and fastest-growing social media influencers.[6][47] READY GO's clients represent over 600 billion YouTube views[47] and collectively reach an audience of 25 million fans.[47][48][49][50] Some of the company's licenses include:[47]
