Greg Lawrance

Gregory Connell Lawrance is an American media and fashion entrepreneur and investor. Lawrance was known for co-founding pioneering athleisure brand NUMBER Lab.[1][2][3][4][5][6] He is the co-founder and CEO of social influencer licensing and marketing agency Ready Go Licensing.[7][8]

Early life & education

Lawrance was born on November 7 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Rochester[7][9] where he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.[7][9][10]  Other coursework included study through the University's Film and Media Studies Program,[7][9] graduate work in entrepreneurship at Rochester’s Simon School of Business[7][9][10] and piano instruction through Rochester's inter-departmental classical program at its top-ranked Eastman School of Music.[7][9][11] Lawrance crewed for the University’s sailing team, with which he competed in the annual U.S. Naval Academy’s McMillan Cup Regatta[7][9]—the oldest national collegiate sailing regatta in the U.S.[7][12]

Career

NUMBER Lab

In 2007, Lawrance co-founded (with CFDA member Luis Fernandez[13]) premium menswear brand —NUMBER Lab [1][2][3][4][5][6] (originally launched in 2005 under the brand name "429").[14]

What started-out as a premium men's athleisure t-shirt brand evolved into a high-end, sport-inspired athleisure fashion brand.[7][14] NUMBER Lab was carried by top major and boutique retailers, including: Nordstrom;[7][15] Bloomingdale's;[6][7][16] Saks Fifth Avenue;[6][7][17] Fred Segal;[7] Ron Herman;[7] Equinox Fitness Clubs;[7][18] United Arrows[7] (Japan); TNT (Canada);[7] and Gotstyle (Canada).[7] The brand garnered praise from top fashion editors and key industry insiders, and was regularly featured in esteemed publications such as GQ,[7][19] Esquire,[7][20] Hypebeast[7][21], Men's Health,[7][22][23] Vogue,[7][24] New York Magazine,[7][25] The Wall Street Journal,[7][26] Paper Magazine,[7][27] Style.com[7][28] and Racked.com.[29] NUMBER Lab was featured on athletes and celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris,[7][30] Josh Duhamel,[7][31] Evan Longoria,[7][32] Harrison Ford,[7] Chris Pine[7][33] and Matt Bohmer.[7][34] In 2012, Annie Leibowitz photographed NUMBER Lab designs on actor Jonathan Groff for a two-page feature in the July issue of Vanity Fair.[7][35]

NUMBER Lab hosted high-profile presentations and runway shows during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.[7] The events were held at A-list venues in New York City including Milk Studios[7][36] and The Standard Hotel.[7][27][37] NUMBER Lab also secured sponsorships with major corporate partners like Gillette,[7][38][39] W Hotels[7][40] and M·A·C Cosmetics to co-finance its runway shows. In 2011, NUMBER Lab was invited to show at Aspen Fashion Week.[7][41][42] The same year, the company successfully opened and operated a one-year pop-up store in Manhattan's north Chelsea neighborhood.[7][43][44] In 2012, E! Entertainment Network covered the company's Fall-Winter 2012 runway show at Milk Studios[7][45] and later that spring, NUMBER Lab was accepted into the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Incubator Program[7][5][46]—in company with fellow brands/designers CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Johnathan Simikhai, Timo Weilland, Burkman Bros and Project Runway's Daniel Vosovic[7][47] (other notable program alumni include Prabal Gurung, Bibhu Mohapatra and Waris Ahluwalia-House of Waris.)[48]

READY GO Licensing

Lawrance co-founded READY GO Licensing[7][49]—a full-service custom merchandise design, e-commerce and marketing agency serving social media's most-popular and fastest-growing influencers.[7][49] Ready Go's clients represent over half a billion views (660 million)[49] and collectively reach an audience of 10 million fans.[49][50][51][52] Some of the company's licenses include:[49]
