"Malibu" is a song by American recording artist Miley Cyrus, from her upcoming sixth studio album. It is set to be released on May 11, 2017 by RCA Records as the lead single from the album.
Background
Following the release of her fifth studio album, Cyrus resumed working on her upcoming sixth studio album.[1][2] She was a key adviser during the tenth season of the reality singing competition The Voice,[3] and then a judge for the eleventh season. In September 2016, she co-starred in Crisis in Six Scenes, a television series Woody Allen created for Amazon Studios;[4][5] and appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she sang Bob Dylan's "Baby, I'm In the Mood for You".[6] She confirmed in October of the same year that she is engaged to Liam Hemsworth.[7]
In an interview with Billboard magazine on May 3, 2017, Cyrus announced that the lead single from her upcoming sixth studio album – titled "Malibu" – would debute May 11.[8] The title of the song references the city of Malibu, California, while its cover artwork shows Cyrus running along one of its beaches.
