Non-free rationale for File:Underbelly2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Underbelly2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:42, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Midnight Club Los Angeles info box

Hello there Deviant, I'd just like to confirm with you that there is a mini EP for Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition for sale on iTunes (http://www.rockstargames.com/midnightclubLA/southcentral/) and the south central music on the wiki page aren't actually in MCLA but in fact are in MC3: DUB edition Remix. I'm working on MCLA soundtrack slowly, slowly and I believe it needs an info box. Thanks for your time. - JoyRider (talk) JRP 16:54, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Phantom of the Hex, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Colm McCarthy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). THQ

Hello. I noticed you undid my revisions to THQ. I would like to understand why. Multiple editors have tried to update this page to indicate the company is gone due to a misunderstanding on how the bankruptcy process works. In the case of THQ, they may no longer be developing games, but the company is still in business - they still have employees, are still in the bankruptcy process (see http://www.kccllc.net/thq), and shares in THQ are still actively traded on the OTC market (see http://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/THQIQ/quote).

In the absence of a verifiable citation indicating the company is completely shut down (and due to the fact they are not disestablished), I have reverted your edits. Pjhansen (talk) 15:17, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

VG infobox

Hi TheDeviantPro,

X201 (talk · contribs) already undid your revert on GTA V, but to explain my edits: Template: Vg infobox says on the artists field: "List the person credited as "art director" or "lead artist", which means the artist listed on the game. On top, it says the following:

As with the developer field, individual development tasks for one field (e.g. who of the artists did the character design and who the concept art, or who of the writers created the story and who the script) should not be mentioned in the infobox but in the article text instead. Individual tasks should be generally kept to prose and the field should only list key people.[1][2] For example, the distinction between story and script writers of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is mentioned in the article's development section. (my emphasis in bold).

The reason why is that otherwise VG infobox can become cluttered, really fast. Video games can have over than a hundred people working on them, with different job roles and responsibilities. The main people can be mentioned, with their respective functions mentioned in the article body. I hope this explains it. Thanks, and happy editing! --Soetermans. Better source request for File:Jay and Silent Bob.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. List of most expensive video games to develop

Hallo. I want to speak of page "List of most expensive video games to develop". I and the other participants, long her(its) edited. I itself has added much changes. And do not want that my labour disappeared. I and other it is important to see not the largest list of the plays, rather then only single most expensive. I interesting, you so and want to leave only 30 lines on page? Or will return and will number else that which were? I know the page not completed. But I think better let will much games of list. I ask you to return all plays from version "20:15, 9 April 2014‎ Gauntlet SKYnet". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gauntlet SKYnet (talkcontribs)

The list got too ridiculous as it went down to costs (to under 10 million) that to me doesn't seem to justify a list that outlines most expensive video games ever developed, to me anything under 50 million in total development and marketing cost doesn't seem expensive in the video game industry today. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Saints Row (series). Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. czar  14:41, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Band 4

The genres and years previous to other Rock Band titles are what they are listed as within the Rock Band game. It has nothing to do with the genre of the song in general. There have been certain circumstances where one genre is anticipated before the game's release only the game tell us that it is "this" genre instead. As for the years, because of possibilities of other re-recordings without the number in the title song (like "Where Did You Go" from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones,) a different year might be mentioned. Also, because this is a new Rock Band title, as with previous titles, there might be possibilities of new genres not introduced yet to the franchise that the game uses.

Because the game isn't out yet, we don't know what years or genres the game will call them. I hope that makes this clear and why this is a WP:CRYSTAL case.--F-22 RaptörAces High 00:35, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

First off, did you even read WP:VGRS? Since you keep making attacks against me then I presume not. As stated in the page about YouTube being a unreliable source that many videos will fail WP:USERG or WP:COPYVIO so it's not recommened. Also you keep adding it in like we need a very detailed guide on how we get to the Multi-player but the problem is Wikipedia is not a guide see, WP:NOTGUIDE. Multi-player is only a small portion of the game so it should be better to just mention in the article.

Is that good enough reason? You keep saying you are better at editing Wikipedia and yet you keep failing to follow Wikipedia guidelines and policies. Unlike you I learn from my mistakes in editing and don't go around making personal attacks at everyone who reverts my edits as they give me good insights in my editing. And keep in mind if you keep reverting my edits without valid reasons (to which you given none) then I keep reverting your edits. TheDeviantPro (talk) 10:13, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Take-Two's studios

Hi again! I'm not sure what the problem here is. Every claim I have made has been cited. In 2013 everyone at 2K Marin was laid off and people reported the studio was closed. The next year Take-Two opens a new studio, Hangar 13, in the same city. If you take a look at 2K Games' website you will see that there is no mention of 2K Marin and the studio's website redirects to 2K Games' site. With respect to Irrational Games, the studio still exists. I understand that there was an announcement that it was "winding down", but it still exists as a small team and has even been hiring for a few posts for over a year now. I understand that editors can have differences of opinion, but the changes I made reflect what the available sources are saying. What exactly do you find objectionable? – Zntrip 00:41, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that been confirmed by numerous sources that Irrational is closed and Levine's new game will be developed as a new studio and name, meaning it will be not a Irrational game. While in 2014 and 2015 it has been said that 2K Marine they will continue the BioShock series,[3] implying that 2K Marine is still active. TheDeviantPro (talk) 01:01, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the sources it is clear that Levine's new studio is still Irrational. Take a look at this article from December 2015: "Irrational Games — or, rather, the studio formerly known by that name — is looking to expand its team, and new job listings on its website reveal further details on what the studio is working on. . . . Levine announced that the studio once known as Irrational Games (but as yet unnamed) would restructure in early 2014."
2K Marin has effectively been dormant since the massive layoffs in 2013 (see here). You are absolutely correct that in 2014 Take-Two's CEO mentioned that 2K Marin would work on the BioShock franchise, but that was before the formation of Hangar 13 later that year (which was established in the same business park, Hamilton Landing, that 2K Marin was located at too (2K Marin Hangar 13)). The only reasonable inference here is that 2K Marin is closed: its staff has been zero since 2013, its parent company established a new studio at the same location, its website has been taken down, its parent company does not mention it in its list of studios. – Zntrip 01:33, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox company

From the documentation at Template:Infobox company:

owner
(or owners)   Use this parameter to list ownership percentages for private companies owned by a few key individuals or to list ownership percentages for joint ventures, if applicable. Do not use this field for publicly traded companies. When listing a company as an owner, use the full legal name of the entity that holds the ownership stake in the article's subject company. List the owners alphabetically and use {{ubl}} to format the entries.
Example:
  • {{ublist |[[Richemont|Compagnie Financière Richemont S.A.]] (50%) |[[Polo Ralph Lauren|Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation]] (50%)}}

It's not intended to show ownership of a subsidiary. That's what parent is for.

parent
If the article's subject is a subsidiary of a holding company or parent company, list the full, legal name of the parent company, correctly reproducing punctuation and abbreviations or lack thereof.
Example (for Solar Turbines Incorporated):
[[Caterpillar Inc.]]

I removed the tag because this is a method specified as acceptable to stop speedy deletion (see Wikipedia:Proposed_deletion). And I quote, "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith. This excludes removals that are clearly not an objection to deletion, such as page blanking or obvious vandalism, and tags removed by banned users may be restored. If you still believe that the article needs to be deleted, or that the article should be deleted but with discussion, list it on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion." Therefore, you should not have replaced the tag. According to Wikipedia's own instructions, if anyone, including me, removed the tag, you should not replace it. I am removing the tag again since this is Wikipedia's own policy.

If there is reason for the article to be deleted, please cite more specifically. For example, please specify what "Searches found nothing at all to suggest anything or enough for independent notability for its own article; nothing else convincing" means, as a description within the tag. I have already posted this same question on SwisterTwister's page, but there has been no explanation for the proposed deletion tag. Please provide direction so I can modify and improve the article, rather than just trying to remove it without any discussion. The purpose of a wiki is to allow contributions and guidance to adhere to specific standards. No clarity has been provided to allow the article's improvement, and Wikipedia's own policy has been ignored, given the aforementioned article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:681:500:9466:A974:633F:4453:EC07 (talk) 08:03, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Open world games

Hi, I've recently seen your edits on games I've taken out of the category. The problem with these games is that there are no sources to back up their claims. Wikipedia itself can't be used as a source, so even if on the article a game says it has an open world design, you can't use that as a source because it's a claim made by another Wikipedia editor without valid proof. This should help you find sources, but please, don't add the games back into the category without at least two sources to back it up. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Video_games/SourcesDohvahkiin (talk) 12:28, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter if I need a source or not they are still open world games. Open world video games is where a player can move freely through a virtual world and is given considerable freedom in regards to how or when to approach particular objectives, as opposed to other video games that have a more linear structure to its gameplay. The last time I checked these games allow you do that. TheDeviantPro (talk) 12:36, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

They still need sources. I've had so many edits reverted because I didn't provide a valid source. So yes, it does matter.Dohvahkiin (talk) 12:41, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, the category is all messed up. It's supposed to be in alphabetical order, but now all the "D", "F", and "M" games are out of order, and I can't find any of the other games past "M". I've got no idea how this happened, but I needs to be fixed. I've been going around and leaving messages on talk pages for editors I know are involved in the category.Dohvahkiin (talk) 15:58, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I figured it out. For some reason, adding those games back into the category screwed up the order of the category. I'm gonna remove them and then try adding them again afterwards. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what will. I'm gonna dig deeper for credible sources for those games after I get that straightened outDohvahkiin (talk) 16:03, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm here to talk about "Plot" in Your Name. First, all articles in Wikipeida require sources. But any source is found nowhere in the article. And see the Wikipedia:Verifiability.

All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed.

— Wikipedia:Verifiability

Also, see the Wikipedia:No original research and WP:IINFO. Thanks. --Idh0854 (talk) 04:08, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First off, I think you need to read WP:FILMPLOT where it states "Since films are primary sources in their articles, basic descriptions of their plots are acceptable without reference to an outside source" and "Since the film is the primary source and the infobox provides details about the film, citing the film explicitly in the plot summary's section is not necessary." Therefore sources aren't necessary in the plot section since the film itself is the primary source. TheDeviantPro (talk) 04:27, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film is the guideline in english wikipedia, but Wikipedia:Verifiability is the "policy". And in the case of article Hrunting, for instance, there are many source, despite the epic poem. Also, this (7,069 words) is never "basic" (→ "Plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words.", WP:FILMPLOT). Finally, see the Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary. Thanks. --Idh0854 (talk) 12:17, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll have you know I shortened that plot summary by a lot and disagree with its removal. A1b2C3d4 (talk) 05:12, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just asked this on Wikiproject Film with this discussion and the user Betty Logan stated that because the film itself falls under WP:PRIMARY, an editor may use the film itself as a source for the plot summary. Therefore secondary sources aren't necessary. Interpretative or analytical statements requires a secondary sources. TheDeviantPro (talk) 01:22, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

GTA London 1961 dev

So I took it upon myself to find out just who did develop GTA London 1961. The in-game credits list the same people as London 1969, people who work (or once worked) at Rockstar Canada, it even has a dedication to the DMA Team - If DMA developed it they surely wouldn't dedicate it to themselves. I know there was false information for years stating DMA developed the entire GTA London (69 and 61) and we've since corrected this. So it would seem that in fact this was Rockstar Canada instead. The problem is sources for London 61 are very few and far between, and are either incomplete of the developer or incorrect, so what do we do? DMA definitely didn't develop it but there's virtually nothing to back that up apart from launching the game and viewing the credits. Dell9300 (talk) 20:16, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
