Saaho is an upcoming Indian action thriller film written and directed by Sujeeth, produced by UV Creations and T-Series will present the film in the northern markets of India.[9][10] [11]The lead film stars are Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor.[12][13] It is being shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.[14][15][16] The film is scheduled to release on Independence Day on 15 August 2019. The film is currently in the last leg of shooting at Innsbruck in Tirol region of Austria. [17] [18][19]. The teaser of Saaho has been breaking all the records on Youtube ever since it has hit the platform. [20]

Cast

Production

The film is made on a budget of ₹300 crore, which includes the use of VFX.[8] The film was shot in Austria, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Romania and other parts of Europe. The filming for the movie began in August 2017. Actors like Arun Vijay, Jackie Shroff, Lal, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mandira Bedi were roped in along with the leads, Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor. A better part of the budget was spend to shoot some action scenes for the film. Also, international stunt choreographer Kenny Bates has been zeroed in to supervise the major action scenes.[25]

The first schedule of the film in Hyderabad was completed in October 2017.[26] The second schedule of the film started in December 2017 at Ramoji Film Studio. According to the producers of the film, the actress Shraddha Kapoor, for which Saaho marks her Telugu debut, has shot action sequences in the film with heavy weaponry. The actor Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the prime antagonist and actors like Jackie Shroff and Chunkey Pandey will be seen in supporting roles.[27] The third schedule began in January 2018 in Hyderabad and Mumbai which after lasting for a few days, shifted to Dubai for a month wherein some major action sequences were shot with actors Prabhas and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Meanwhile, Shraddha Kapoor switched to her next venture, Stree.[28] After shooting half of the film in locations of Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Dubai, the cast and crew of Saaho began with the fourth schedule of the film in Abu Dhabi in February 2018 and ended within a few weeks. The fifth schedule of the film, also in Abu Dhabi, started in late-February. After, this, the sixth schedule of the film would start in mid-March in locations like Dubai and Romania. The final leg of film and romantic songs are shot in Innsbruck and in Tirol region of Austria.[29] [30][31]

An action sequence in the film which has to be featured in an exceptional long time in the screenplay of the film, was shot extensively near Burj Khalifa during this schedule, for which 25 crore from the budget had been allotted. Apparently, Prabhas had gone under rigorous training for the same. His preparation involved cardiovascular training, weight training and plyometric obstacle races. Prabhas, on the other side praising his co-star Shraddha Kapoor, said that she is the best choice for the film. Her character is very important and adds a lot of weight to the story of the film. She had shot some amazing action sequences for the film and holds a strong character in the film whereas Prabhas' character is a grey-shaded fictitious role.[32] He plays the character of a cop which will keep the audience guessing until the end.[33]

Also, Saaho would feature some underwater sequences with Prabhas and for the same, Prabhas had learnt scuba diving.[34] Saaho is Prabhas' first Hindi film and it is Shraddha Kapoor's first Telugu film. Prabhas will be dubbing his own lines in Hindi version while a professional dubbing artist will dub for Shraddha Kapoor in the Telugu version.[35] Directed by Sujeeth, the movie will feature Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh as the antagonist. Not only Neil, but TV and Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi, who is known for her grey roles on small screen, will play an out and out negative role in the film.[36]

The music of the film was supposed to be composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who opted out of the film after the director decided to feature additional songs by other composers in the soundtrack.[1] The song composers are yet to be announced while Ghibran has been roped in for the background score. The lyrics will be written by Sri Mani in Telugu, Madhan Karky in Tamil, and Javed Akhtar in Hindi.

The teaser of the film was released on 27 April 2017 along with the release of Prabhas' last film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.[27] The first look poster of Prabhas from the film was revealed on his birthday on 22 October 2017.[37] There was some controversy about the poster looking similar to the poster of Blade Runner 2049, with many fans and followers criticizing the poster for the perceived plagiarism.[38] The following year, a making of the film featurette was released on 22 October 2018, on Prabhas' birthday. A second making of the film featurette was released on 2 March 2019, on Shraddha Kapoor's birthday.[39] A poster was unveiled on 21 May 2019 of Prabhas from the film.[40] A week later, another poster of Prabhas was revealed.[41] On 10 June 2019, the first look poster of Shradha Kapoor from the film was released.[42] Another poster of Prabhas was released on 12 June 2019. The following day, a teaser of the film was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.[43]
