Bill Nye Saves the World is an American political Television show currently streaming on Netflix hosted by Bill Nye.[1] The series focuses on science, and investigates its relationship with politics, pop culture, and society.[2] The first season explores topics such as climate change, alternative medicine, and video games from a scientific point of view, while also refuting myths and anti-scientific claims. Though the TV show is hosted by Nye, five correspondents assist in the presentation of the show. These include fashion model Karlie Kloss, science YouTuber and educator Derek Muller, comedian Nazeem Hussain, comedian and writer Joanna Hausmann, and the TV host and producer Emily Calandrelli.[3][4] The show also features guest appearances from Zach Braff, Desiigner, Donald Faison, Rachel Bloom, Gus Sorola, Geoff Ramsey, Joel McHale, Wil Wheaton, Martin Starr, Jonna Mae,[5] Steve Aoki, and Tim Gunn.[6] The thirteen-episode series premiered on April 21, 2017.[6] The show's theme song was produced by Tyler, The Creator.[7]

Nye hosts Bill Nye Saves the World, while Kloss, Muller, Hussain, Calandrelli, and Hausmann are featured as correspondents.

Critical response

The Rotten Tomatoes critics rating gave it a 75%, until April 28, 2017.[8]

NPR said the show is fun to watch, working well from Nye's consistent reliance on scientific and provable facts.[9] Vox praised Nye's unapologetic talking style, though worried this may alienate some viewers.[10] Gizmodo was more negative, claiming that the tone is too harsh and the content uninformative.[11] The Independent mentioned that the show "jumps the shark" with a "cringeworthy" 'My Sex Junk' skit."[12]

The show has received an overwhelmingly negative response from viewers. Currently, it has a 1.9 out of 10 user score on Metacritic, indicating "overwhelming dislike". [13]
