Murder of ex-husband?

I think the mystery surruonding the disappearance of her husband is the main thing bringing readers to this page, and as such should be included. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.217.51.144 (talk) 03:46, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@203.217.51.144: This article covers her three marriages and there's a separate article titled Disappearance of Don Lewis that covers this subject in-depth. (Also, with no evidence, we can't call his disappearance a "murder".) Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 13:13, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Animal Rights activist"?

It is a bit rich to call this woman an "animal rights activist". That claim should be independently verified from a quality source (not that wikipedia editors would understand what that means.) As the documentary "Tiger King" has shown, she has no expertise in animal welfare, keeps animals in inadequate enclosures, and uses them to make money for herself. She also exploits the free labour of others. Now it seems this article has also been nomimated to be highlighted in wikipedia's "did you know ..." section. Just another exammple of what complete dross wikipedia is.86.56.88.129 (talk) 13:40, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@86.56.88.129: Even the documentary shows that she is an activist for big cat rights, despite her facing criticism from private big cat owners (see the potential bias here?). It is also cited in the article, in her "Career" subsection. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 13:50, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've semi-protected this page

And the main article. It's clear that we are going to get egregious BLP violations without it, and I don't want to spend my time having to revision/delete every day. Doug Weller talk 17:40, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller: Could you also protect Disappearance of Don Lewis? There are BLP violations regarding Baskin on that article too. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 18:59, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anachronistic use of her current surname

A couple of times I have found that the article has been edited to say things like "Baskin moved in with Michael Murdock" [around 1978]. That seems improper, because when she moved in with Murdock, her name was not Baskin. I think we should avoid using her current surname to describe things she did before November 2004, because it implies that she had that name before that time. It may be OK to say something like "Baskin says that when she was a child she did [something]", because it is describing something she says now, and her name is now Baskin. But I don't think it is correct to say that "Baskin moved in with Michael Murdock". Her surname was Jones, not Baskin, when she moved in with Murdock. It is better to say things like "As Carole Lewis, she and her husband Don founded Wildlife on Easy Street ...". —BarrelProof (talk) 17:49, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
