"Islamist terrorism"
It seems like this form is used in this article as well. Should it be replaced with "Islamic terrorism"? Llightex (talk) 15:17, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
- Both phrases are prominent in RSs. In fact, "Islamist terrorism" seems to be more prominent than "radical Islamic terrorism". A Google Books phrase search yields 25,900 results for the former and 4,330 results for latter. I'll add it to the definition. The most NPOV-compliant approach would be to use the form that's used in the source cited for that specific portion of the text. Eperoton (talk) 23:46, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
- Some stats:
- Ngrams indicate "Islamic Terrorism" as the most used term.
- Similar results are found in searches of the last six months of news:
- a search of "Islamic terrorism" got "About 12,800 results" while
- a search of "Islamist terrorism" got "About 6,320 results".
- I think that a logical assumption is that many articles that use the wording, "Islamist terrorism" will also use "Islamic terrorism" yet it is also clear that many other articles solely use "Islamic terrorism".
- A similarly formatted search on "radical Islamic terrorism" got "About 6,450 results".

- There are other similar discussions on this matter, such as this one and this one. --Mhhossein talk 12:15, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

weight on scholarship by Olivier Roy
In the section Religious motivation, the information by Olivier is presented at length. There are other scholars, like Gilles Kepel we could also present. Does anyone have any suitable & publicly available sources by him? Googling in French is not my forte. AadaamS (talk) 10:08, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Islam never support terrorism. Who doing the terror attack they didn't know what the quran says. If any one didn't trust what I'm saying just study the quran & learn what it says. Ashick78 (talk) 05:13, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

This article does not comply with WP:RNPOV , maybe because it is only edited by non-muslims AyaanLamar (talk) 11:49, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- If you have specific suggestions, it would be best to note that here. Putting a tag on the page and then accusing non-Islamic editors of inherent bias is probably going to earn yuou some sort of restriction or block in the long run. ValarianB (talk) 13:02, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- Better yet, please provide specific suggestions supported by WP:RS sources. AadaamS (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- Actually the religion of the editors is immaterial to the content of the article, that would be a sort of identity politics to suggest that "a certain category of editors" is required to make a good article, this is not true. What is required are WP:RS that are presented in a neutral manner. If the condition for "NPOV met" in this case is the religion of the authors, that makes the POV tag inavlid. AadaamS (talk) 18:51, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- Better yet, please provide specific suggestions supported by WP:RS sources. AadaamS (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

- Islamic terrorism → Islamist terrorism
- Islamic terrorism in Europe (2014–present) → Islamist terrorism in Europe (2014–present)
– The actual name seems to be "Islamism", so as a verb it seems clearer to say "Islamist", rather than "Islamic". Unreal7 (talk) 14:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose as Islamic is more inclusive than Islamist, and some instances of Islamic terror may not be Islamist. Furthermore, "Islamic terrorism" is much more prevalent than "Islamist terrorism" - which as a phrase doesn't even show up on ngram- [1] - so per COMMONNAME, Islamic terrorism is the appropriate term.Icewhiz (talk) 14:39, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support "Islamic terrorism" is a loaded term, used to indict the religion as a whole, while "Islamist" is more appropriate and directly-focused on the small extremists within Islam. This is why there was such a tizzy when Trump used the wrong word in a speech. ValarianB (talk) 14:53, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose This has been 6 requested move discussions before and the community consensus appears to retain the term Islamic.Further the term Islamic terrorism clearly is more common term and more widely used including in in scholarly and academically ] rather than Islamist terrorism and clearly per WP:COMMONNAME.Further the Militant groups including the Islamic state themselves call themselves Islamic and have justified the violence based on religion or in other cases Christian ,Sikh ,Hindu if they call themselves by religion feel we cannot put political correctness over this .BBC refused to call the Islamic state as Daesh despite a request from British MP and even the Prime Minister .head of the BBC rejected the demands, saying that using Daesh would not preserve the BBC’s impartiality as it risked giving an impression of support for the group’s opponents .We need to call what groups call themselves and this clearly sourced in WP:RS.It would be censorship in wikipedia if we do not use the most common term and term the groups engaging in violence call themselves as BBC rightly did.
