New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:18, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying that, I didn't realize that was a book, I really couldn't make any sense of the article to begin with. Wildthing61476 (talk) 21:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar!

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar may be awarded to those that show a pattern of going the extra mile to be nice, without being asked. - I was very impressed, not only with the reading list and the advice and insight, but also with the fact that you took the time to do so. In a moment when it would have been easy to simply comment, you chose to attempt to educate, in an obvious attempt to help others. This is deservedly well-earned. - jc37 02:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
thanks. that brought tears to my eyes. thanks again. Dlohcierekim 03:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help

Hello, I have the WP account of Ecoleetage. I asked another editor to set up a WikiBreak Enforcer for me, but he made a typo and set it for the year 2108. Can you please go to my monobook.js page and remove the Enforcer code? You can verify this by checking that page for the Ecoleetage account. (Sorry that I have to communicate via IP -- I am trying to find an editor who is online.) 69.121.199.196 (talk) 03:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did it. Hopefully correctly. You will need to refresh your cache. Hope that helped. Cheers, and happy editing. Dlohcierekim 03:16, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Silly question: how do I refresh my cache? 69.121.199.196 (talk) 03:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC) Thank you so much! That was a bit scary! I greatly appreciate your help. Ecoleetage (talk) 03:30, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping me out (or helping me in, as the case may be!) Ecoleetage (talk) 03:38, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Did you remember you had moved a page called Portal:Animals/Quiz into User:Mark Chung/Animal Quiz? I think you probably should undo it. If you don't think so, please visitPortal:Fish/Quiz. Requesting an Editor Review

Hi, you opposed my last RFA at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Gary King a few weeks ago. I have decided to open an Editor Review at Wikipedia:Editor review/Gary King so I could receive a new assessment for my recent activity on Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to look over my recent contributions and point out areas where I could improve. Thanks in advance! Butter plaire

To be honest, I don't quite know. I based my decision to tag for speedy on some keywords in the article, it's length, the fact that it had already been deleted and the username of the author. nneonneo talk 04:38, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User: Lampireslayer666

Your sent a message to Lampireslayer666 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) at 14:04 today about his favourite nonsense page Patrick Flanagin, and I see it has been deleted three times today. But that user was indef blocked at 15:26 yesterday. Has he created a sock? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:27, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your feedback?

Hey, sorry to bother, but can I get your feedback on this AfD discussion: [[1]]? I just wanted to see if I was off-base in my judging of the candidate for deletion. Merci. Ecoleetage (talk) 16:52, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for your input. I don't see this as a question of inheriting notability. I found it odd that a film that is in commercial release by a well-known distributor would be considered non-notable. I can ask around, as per your suggestion. Also, check your e-mail, as per a follow-up on yesterday's correspondence! Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 18:58, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, again, for your input on this page. I appreciate your commentary. Also, more e-mails await you! (LOL). Be warned -- I am a fairly talkative character! Ecoleetage (talk) 19:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS, the AfD ended in a " no consensus, default to keep" decision! Thanks again for joining that discussion. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:31, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Another question Sorry to bother again, but I've noticed that you often "welcome" people to WP. That's a very nice gesture -- is that strictly an Admin thing or can anyone do it? And if anyone can do it, how can they? Thanks again! Ecoleetage (talk) 21:23, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is excellent. I think I would like to try doing that - it seems like a good thing to do! However, I may be taking a break very soon. :) Ecoleetage (talk) 22:27, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unrelated but worthy question Say, is it possible for non-admins to participate in the RfA process? It doesn't seem proper for those who are not admins to vote on the subject, but I've seen a few non-admins contributing to the yeas and nays. Gracias. Ecoleetage (talk) 23:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! To everyone who replied! :) Ecoleetage (talk) 00:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please disregard earlier request. I am going to try another approach for staying offline. Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 02:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WBOSITG's RfA

My RfA

Hi Dlohcierekim; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 22:00, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see you welcome RfA spam! :)

Joke Message

Err...someone has already "halfway" opposed for it, so I'm removing it. Oh well. I'll get to those questions you posted, also. Mastrchf (t/c) 00:38, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFA thanks

Thanks for your support at my recent Request for adminship. Perhaps we will have a chance to collaborate in the future. I hope you find I live up to your expectations. Kodster -- RFA comment

Yeah, I tried to bring some humor into it. Would you mind putting some input into the discussion on number 21 of the oppose section? Thanks. Cheers, Kodster (heLLo) (Me did that) 19:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just A Comment

Well I did not realize the situation is now arbitrary? Did I miss something? Likewise, if you would like to comment on my opinions, please feel free to do so on my page, not to distract from the candidate. I have seen to many discussions take over an Rfa when it is about the candidate not personal agendas. Thanks. ShoesssS Talk 00:51, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem, let's just say the weather back here in Philly has made me a tad testy tonight. ShoesssS Talk 01:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it should be deleted, it was vandalism. Corvus cornixtalk 01:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It does indeed appear to be a userpage masquerading as a hoax article. I've stripped the speedy from it for now because I'm not sure that it can be speedied nevertheless, since hoaxes are speediable as vandalism and I'm not sure that userspace hoaxes count. I've tagged it as a userpage and stripped the categories, for now. I'm trying to decide if I should join you in talking to the creator about it, nominate it for MfD or what. I'll probably delve more into recent contributions, since I see there's ongoing page creation that may be more hoaxes in article space. *sigh* I so much prefer straightforward situations. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've warned the user that creating hoax articles (as she or he was busily working one) is regarded as vandalism and may lead to an account being blocked. I request that s/he stop creating them and instead discuss the matter on his or her talk page. S/he immediately blanked it, which one can only interpret as a big "message received." Currently, I'm monitoring account activity for a while to see how to proceed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I could be off-base, but I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a rather young user. I've periodically checked contributions to see if she or he returns. Once before I encountered a user who was adamant in creating hoax articles...created them over a period of weeks before finally being blocked. As soon as the block was lifted, he was back at it again. Never responded to communications. Very perplexing! Anyway, I have no doubt that it's a hoax, since the show "features" several of the recent contestants on American Idol, including the winner, David Cook. Both of them are likely to be too busy with this American Idols LIVE! Tour 2008 to be making a TV show. :D I agree with the name coincidence; it smacks of adolescent fantasy. I'd agree that at this point it's a good idea to wait and see if s/he comes back before taking the userpage to MfD. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have contact and am talking to her at my talkpage. If you should happen to wander by and want to add anything, feel free. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:25, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you have matters well in hand. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 13:39, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Diohcierekim - I appreciate the recent editing of my article, Bidou Yamaguchi. There is one thing I wish you would reverse: The use of a macron in Bidou's artist-name as he uses this in the English language environment. This is what is actually recommended in the Wikipedia Manual of Style (Japan): "3. Use the form publicly used on behalf of the person in the English-speaking world." All uses of his name Bidou that I have seen in publications and brochures use Bidou. He signs his name in Western script: "Bidou." In addition to the rule in the Style Manual, we have these clear indications of his own personal preference and his own usage in the West. Again thanks for your editing. Mitakadai (talk) 18:39, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. Don't see where I edited this article. Not sure of what change you want me to make. User:Fg2 appears to have edited the thing after you. He also seems more knowledgeable of the subject than I. You might want to contact him. Dlohcierekim 13:20, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that makes sense. When I came across the article, all's that was listed was the first sentence. If there's anything else I can do, let me know. Cheers! TNX-Man 21:34, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then. I guess that takes care of that. Thanks for the heads up. Cheers. TNX-Man 01:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, bro.

Actually, I didn't create it, but I'd tagged it as a speedy as did a couple of other users. It's not really useful as a redirect, there's some info on the place at another article and it was nearly incomprehensible anyway. Thanks for asking, though. Best, --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:41, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
