New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. My recent RfA

Hi. It does indeed appear to be a userpage masquerading as a hoax article. I've stripped the speedy from it for now because I'm not sure that it can be speedied nevertheless, since hoaxes are speediable as vandalism and I'm not sure that userspace hoaxes count. I've tagged it as a userpage and stripped the categories, for now. I'm trying to decide if I should join you in talking to the creator about it, nominate it for MfD or what. I've warned the user that creating hoax articles (as she or he was busily working one) is regarded as vandalism and may lead to an account being blocked. I request that s/he stop creating them and instead discuss the matter on his or her talk page. S/he immediately blanked it, which one can only interpret as a big "message received." I could be off-base, but I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a rather young user. I've periodically checked contributions to see if she or he returns. Once before I encountered a user who was adamant in creating hoax articles...created them over a period of weeks before finally being blocked. As soon as the block was lifted, he was back at it again. Never responded to communications. Very perplexing! Anyway, I have no doubt that it's a hoax, since the show "features" several of the recent contestants on American Idol, including the winner, David Cook. Both of them are likely to be too busy with this American Idols LIVE! Tour 2008 to be making a TV show. :D I agree with the name coincidence; it smacks of adolescent fantasy. I'd agree that at this point it's a good idea to wait and see if s/he comes back before taking the userpage to MfD. --Moonriddengirl ^(talk) 23:28, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Bidou Yamaguchi

Dear Diohcierekim - I appreciate the recent editing of my article, Bidou Yamaguchi. There is one thing I wish you would reverse: The use of a macron in Bidou's artist-name as he uses this in the English language environment. This is what is actually recommended in the Wikipedia Manual of Style (Japan): "3. Use the form publicly used on behalf of the person in the English-speaking world." All uses of his name Bidou that I have seen in publications and brochures use Bidou. He signs his name in Western script: "Bidou." In addition to the rule in the Style Manual, we have these clear indications of his own personal preference and his own usage in the West. Again thanks for your editing.
