Well, there is a whole chapter dedicated to "The Giant Rats" in The Food of the Gods by H. G. Wells, which can be viewed, for example, at [[1]].

Maybe that doesn't actually matter and is absolutely irrelevant to put in among other connotations, but anyways, it wouldn't clash with Sherlock Holmes, I believe.

Question on Dispensationalism article

I noticed that a user recently added a name to the list of those associated with dispensationalism. He also added a corresponding biography article on this guy. There is nothing noteworthy about this character or what he has done. Is there no criteria to help us here? Would I be an ass for just deleting the reference in the Dispensationalism article? Thomas of "Celaeno"

Do you have some good source for redirecting Thomas of Celano to this odd moniker? I've been unable to find any authority for this anywhere online (other than mirrors of Wikipedia), and I've never seen it in print. Celano in the Abruzzo, his hometown, appears in Antiquity in one or two inscriptions as (the more normal, sound-change-wise) Caelanum, but the name of the place was never Celaeno. In sum, I think you slipped, I'd like to move the article back to the guy's universally used name — but am checking first. Best, Bill 10:43, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Baphomet (disambiguation)

You placed on Talk:Baphomet a call for User:Khaosinfire to provide sources for his claims tha Baphomet was a fertility god and removed the info from the article. He is no placing the same info on the disambiguation page instead and still refuses to source it even though I have left messages on his talk page about it. practical applications

OK, this is ancient. But I am rather at a loss to know what could possibly satisfy your wish:

As a person whose knowledge of mathematics would fit under a dime, with plenty of space to spare, I do wish that some note would be taken in articles such as this about practical applications or the significance of the theorem, if there be any.

Unlike most math articles, this one begins by stating in the very first sentence that what it is used for, and gives an example in detail, and the application of the example to real-world things immediately understood by people who know no mathematics is explicit. Just a few days ago I was looking at a text on probability theory that states the Rao-Blackwell theorem but gives no examples of its use, and thinking that that is deplorable since it's so easy to give a large number of such examples. I was born and raised Muslim near Al-Azhar, it is mainly a college that chooses college appllicants who have the hieghst grades in the Arabic Language and literature. Reason being is that the Qur'an is still printed in 1500 yr old Arabic. Now the attack isn't much about the Mufti himself but when someone who people call s dictator; Hosni Mubarak tells him to invent reasons why women should take their veil off. I read write and speak as my mother tongue. Now a Fatwa isn't binding, and no Al-Azhar isn't that credible anymore,since poloticians started presseuring Clreics to issue Fatwas to please the donnors of foreign aid. Al-Azhar is no longer respected and I'm glad it is so because it tells lies to please poloticians:

Hmm... I read your comment and... do you think this page is for books of hadith? It is for individual hadith which number in the many thousands with many of them being used in many rulings. My issue wasn't notability in the title. Somehow I think we should go into slightly more detail on earlier precursors (Aesop) and the Flandrian adaptation by Willem, as outlined by Morley. I'll also get Norman F. Thanks for the kind words. I wrote the sheet music using "ABC" notation and I have generated a very basic midi file from that, really just to check that it sounds similar to the original. It has the basic note information but nothing more, so would need some work in a proper midi sequencer. I'll send it to you if you let me have an email address. I have deleted Image:EmileNelligan.JPG, from which you removed the no source tag without specifying a source. I'm sure you meant well, but I'd like to point out that a drawing does not necessarily have to have been made during the lifetime of its subject, so there's no way to know the copyright status of that image without knowing its source. We require a source for all images, regardless of copyright status. As it happens, that image was uploaded by indefinitely blocked user JillandJack, who is a reincarnation of User:DW, a user hard-banned multiple times under different usernames (see those two user pages for details). I encourage you to find a proper illustration for Émile Nelligan, but it will be better for the article itself if the image doesn't have that username attached to it. Thanks. Natalie Barney's hat

I have a .jpg of a painting, "Natalie in Fur Cape", 1905 by Alice Pike Barney, in which she is wearing a similarly ludicrous hat, but is slightly happier. It might make a nice addition to the article, but I'm not sure: is a 1905 painting pretty clearly in the public domain? If so, I could upload it and you could see if you like it. I also have a rather nice, though faded, photo (.gif) of her in her older days, in no hat and looking rather impish in an embroidered robe, but I suspect that the copyright on that is still valid. - Nunh-huh 23:29, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mohammed's sexual orientation

Can you or I remove the deleted page tag? I say this for a few reasons... it was never recreated so I don't see a need for it having that... there is also no consensus that an article about Muhammad's sexual orientation can't be created... granted I think it's a subject that might be impossible to do well and neutrally... but, there's no real consensus that we can ban its recreation... there may be some scholarly discussion of it that I am not privvy to. My point is... we should see what happens since it's not simple vandalism... if it becomes a problem page then we can protect it and put that template.
