Davidbena (talk) 17:12, 3 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2016 Elections Vandalism – Not even close

It wasn't vandalism, what you undid was undoing brilliant academic research founded upon Derrida's derisionist deconstructionist literary break-down of a philosophical-litero-literal system! Vandals are the mandibles of the internet, mind you, and without mandibles how are we to mend our ends to jaw down on the jocularity of food? 17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)17:42, 5 February 2019 (UTC)~~ŃŖĚṛê — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.8.179.70 (talk) 17:21, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The RM for the Andrew Yang article

When you say that you support or oppose a proposal on Wikipedia, you should generally say why you have that opinion. If your reasoning is the same as what someone else already said, it is customary to say something like "Support per ThatUser" if ThatUser is that person's username. —BarrelProof (talk) 06:22, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pewdiepie streak ended

Actually you should revert your edit because for more than 12 hours daily from 25th March T-Series is leading, that’s a majority of a day. So PewDiePie’s streak is ended. If you say that T-Series should lead for 1 day or more to break PewDiePie’s streak, than even PewDiePie is unable to maintain his 24 hour streak for almost a month. Re: Donald Trump series

Hello.

Why don't you do it consistently then? There are lots of similar links left:

  • international (trips)
  • formation (of cabinet)
  • tax cuts
  • tariffs
  • family separation
  • national emergency
  • travel ban
  • wall
  • cannabis

The thing is, all these, and the ones you reverted, are inside parentheses. Inside parentheses, you only initcap where there's a full sentence.

So, will you self-revert?

HandsomeFella (talk) 19:41, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@HandsomeFella: Hi. Sorry, what are you trying to persuade?
I am obviously referring to your recent revert of {{Donald Trump series}}: here.

HandsomeFella (talk) 20:07, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@HandsomeFella: I know you are referring to that. My question is what are you trying to tell me? I don't understand you. And what is "inticap"?
Initcap means capitalizing the first (initial) letter of a word. If you're not so familiar with English – which your username suggests – you don't revert other users on grammar or style. You claim on your userpage that you are a native speaker. It does not seem that way. HandsomeFella (talk) 22:30, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@HandsomeFella: Oh, sorry, I misread it. However I don't find "initcap" as a word in the dictionary. Also, I am indeed a native speaker of English and Mandarin. I just appear to have poor language-learning skills since I was young. Please don't make this as a personal issue. (Policy: WP:PA; Essay: WP:APR)
Edit: In my opinion, the first letter needs to be capitalized in the parenthesis. If you disagree, we will have to discuss on Template talk:Donald Trump series.

70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China

Can I enquire as to why you replaced citation tags in this edit? Regards, -- Ohc ¡digame! 18:16, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ohconfucius: Because I thought the citation tags looked too complicated. How do you name the tags?
My cite names are script-generated for the most part, and it's done with one mouse-click. My convention is Domain_name+[string of 6-10-digit number inside the url] or, if there is no such string: yyyymmdd+Domain_name. I use strings without spaces to avoid using quote marks. In fact, because they are only visible in edit mode, and there's no naming convention, it doesn't really matter what the cite names are so long as they are unique in the page in question. It's not worth wasting time to change them. Regards, -- Ohc ¡digame! 20:19, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ohconfucius: I see. Your scripts seem useful. I know very little about coding. How did you create the scripts?
They are based on regexes. It searches for strings and replaces them with any predetermined element, which may be variable or fixed, or a combination. My script that names citations is here. The entire library can be found at User:Ohconfucius/script. -- Ohc ¡digame! 20:47, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Team Trees, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Tesla and Alan Walker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

English Wikipedia unblocked in China?

Hi, it seems that from yesterday evening (China time) the English Wikipedia has been unblocked in China? I live in China, and starting from last night I was able to access enwiki without a VPN. Other versions of Wikipedia are still blocked though. Should I reciprocate this on the article Websites blocked in mainland China? JACKINTHEBOXTALK 05:31, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JackintheBox: I don't think I'm the right guy to ask. You need to cite a secondary reliable source to prove that the website is unblocked as of 2019-11-06 (UTC), not by your personal experience. Of all the people you could ask, why are you asking me? Just curious. —Wei4Green#TeamTrees🌲 13:48, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I decided to ask you because I noticed you recently edited that article, and was not sure whether I should add this based on personal experience. Anyway, it seems that enwiki is again blocked in Mainland China. Thanks JACKINTHEBOXTALK 14:13, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!
