The 2019 Giro d'Italia is a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that is scheduled to take place in Italy, between 11 May and 2 June 2019.[1] The race will be the 102nd edition of the Giro d'Italia and will be the first Grand Tour of the 2019 cycling season. The race is scheduled to start with an individual time trial in Bologna.[2] Chris Froome who won the 2018 Giro said he would not be defending his title, as he will be focusing on the 2019 Tour de France.[3]
Teams
All 18 UCI WorldTeams were automatically invited and were obliged to attend the race. Four wildcard UCI Professional Continental teams were also selected[4]. Each team started with eight riders.
