Brought to the Television Academy’s attention by Starz, which has numerous series with multiple hanging episodes, hanging episodes (for instance, for Starz's Magic City and AMC's Mad Men, which both ended their 2012 seasons in June, after the May 31 line) will now be allowed to be webcast for award consideration prior to their telecast should that telecast air after the submission period has closed. The Academy had prior rules stipulating that eligible episodes be presented on the same platform as the episodes that qualify the series.[4]
Nominations
The nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced live on Thursday July 19, 2012, at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, California. The nominees were announced by Scandal star Kerry Washington and late night host Jimmy Kimmel.[5]
