Rajisha Vijayan is an Indian film actress who appears in Malayalam films.[1] She made her acting debut in the 2016 film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.[2] She has hosted several shows in Malayalam television before foraying into films. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in her debut film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.[3]

Early life

Rajisha was born in Perambra, Calicut as the daughter of Sheela and Vijayan.[4] She completed her graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism at Amity University, Noida, New Delhi.[5] Apart from dancing, she kept high interest in theatre and athletics.[citation needed] She started working in Surya TV and later in Mazhavil Manorama as a television host.[citation needed]

Career

2013–15

Rajisha was very popular among the television spectators through her shows.[6] She also hosted Susi’s Code, a youth-centric programme and a music chat show which has gained popularity among the young generation.[7] She hosted surya challenge along with Vidhu Pratap on Surya TV. She won the hearts of the TV viewers through her exceptional anchoring of Ugram Ujwalam, a talent show aired on Mazhavil Manorama.[8]

2016–present

Rajisha debuted in the Malayalam Film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam for which she won several awards. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in 2016 for her role in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and went on to receive a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Malayalam.[9]

Her second project was the commercially failed movie Georgettan's Pooram alongside Dileep.[10] Her next venture was Oru Cinemakaaran[11] starring Vineeth Sreenivasan.[12] Meanwhile, she also acted in a theater drama titled Hand of god as a queen.

In 2019, Rajisha did the titular role in the coming of age film June by Friday Film House.[13][14][15] The film and her performance was both critically and commercially acclaimed.[16][17]
