Balen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbaːlə(n)]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Balen proper and Olmen. On 1 January 2011, Balen had a population of 21,305. Total area is 72.88 km², giving a population density of 283 inhabitants per km².
