Kansas City Southern Railroad Waddell "A" Truss Bridge, Cross Bayou, in Shreveport, Louisiana, was built in 1890. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.[1]
The bridge once carried the Kansas City Southern Railway across Cross Bayou (also known as Twelve Mile Bayou), parallel and about 100 yards (91 m) east of Spring Street's crossing.[2][3]
It is one of the only two remaining Waddell "A" Truss Bridge, designed by John Alexander Low Waddell.[2][3]
The bridge no longer carries rail traffic, and rail connections were removed prior to 2002.
It is recognized as a historic site by the City of Shreveport.[4]
A second Waddell "A" Truss Bridge was built in Missouri in 1898 and is also listed on the National Register.
