Broadway-Blues-Ballads is an album by singer/pianist/songwriter Nina Simone. It was her second album for Philips. In contrast to her first Philips album, the live In Concert, which was politically laden with civil rights motifs, this studio album is more playful. It is not regarded as one of Simone's best efforts, though it contains songs that became standards in her repertoire.

Information about songs on this album

  • "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" was written by Bennie Benjamin, Gloria Caldwell and Sol Marcus and is one of Simone's most well known songs. Arranger and Conductor Horace Ott co-wrote this song, but credited it under his wife's name Gloria Caldwell.
  • "How Can I?", "I Am Blessed", "Don't Take All Night", "Of This I'm Sure", "Our Love (Will See Us Through)" were also written by Bennie Benjamin and Sol Marcus.
  • "See Line Woman" became a standard in Simone's live repertoire. It is loosely based on a traditional children's song, "Sea Lion Woman."
