The Dhanbad - Bhubaneswar Garib Rath Express is a tri-weekly running superfast Garib Rath train of the Indian Railways connecting Dhanbad Junction railway station (DHN) to Bhubaneswar railway station (BBS), which started as a train between Ranchi and Bhubaneswar and later was extended to Dhanbad. The train numbers are 12831 and 12832. It belongs to the East Coast Railways. Train number 12831 leaves Dhanbad at 1600 hrs and arrives at Bhubaneswar the next day at 0815 hrs. Train number 12832 leaves Bhubaneswar at 20:10 hrs and arrives at Dhanbad the next day at 10:45 hrs. Major cities that it passes through are Bokaro, Ranchi, Rourkela and Cuttack.

Train Route

The train stops at Bokaro, Muri, Ranchi, Hatia, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur City, Angul, Talcher Road, Dhenkanal and Cuttack en route.

The rake 9 AC 3 tier coaches and two EOGs.

The train is hauled by a WDM 3A of the Bondamunda shed.

Significance

It is one of the best preferred trains by passengers from Dhanbad to Bhubaneswar (en route) due to the following reasons:

  1. The train timings is very good.
  2. The whole of the train is mostly occupied with college students. Parents feel relaxed with the travel of their ward.
  3. The security in the train satisfies all.
  4. Hawkers are not allowed.
  5. 3-tier AC sleeper makes it a comfortable journey to travel over night.
  6. The presence of students makes a friendly atmosphere and thus entertaining.
  7. Lastly, it is a direct train passing through the industrial belt of Jharkhand and Odisha covering all the important places.
