Douglas Stewart Chaffee (January 24, 1936 – April 26, 2011) was an artist whose work has appeared in role-playing games.
Early life and education
Douglas Chaffee was the son of Ralph and Marjorie Chaffee.[2] Chaffee attended college at Bob Jones University where he studied Art and History.[2]
Career
Douglas Chaffee has worked for TSR on the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, and the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game.
Chaffee has also worked as head of IBM's Art Department, has done paintings for NASA, the military, the book and the gaming industry, and did the official program painting for the Trident submarine.[3]
Chaffee's Dungeons & Dragons illustration work includes Dungeoneer's Survival Guide (1986), The Emirates of Ylaruam (1987), Needle (1987), 2nd edition AD&D Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master Guide (1989), The Complete Fighter's Handbook (1989), The Complete Book of Humanoids (1993), Player's Option: Combat & Tactics and Player's Option: Skills & Powers (1995) and the cover art to Cleric's Challenge II (1995).
