Gautam Buddha Airport (IATA: BWA, ICAO: VNBW),[2] also known as Bhairahawa Airport,[1] is an airport serving Bhairahawa[1] (or Bhairawa[2]), a municipality of the Rupandehi District in Province No. 5 in Nepal. Dharmendra Pandey is serving as chief of the Gautam Buddha Airport. This airport is also being upgraded to an international airport, being Nepal's second international airport.
Facilities
The airport resides at an elevation of 358 feet (109 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 10/28 with an asphalt surface measuring 1,510 by 34 metres (4,954 ft × 112 ft)[1] and currently connecting only domestic routes.
Upgrade
The Airport will be upgraded into an international airport by 2018. It is planned to have a 3,000-m runway and have six international parking bays. The project will be financed by a loan and grant aid of $42.96 million and $12.75 million, respectively, from the Asian Development Bank [3]
