Park Jae-hyung (Korean: 박제형; born September 15, 1992), better known as Jae[1], is a Korean-American singer. He is best known as one of the top six finalists of the popular SBS survival program K-pop Star in its first season and later appeared on the second installment of the same program. He is the vocalist and electric guitarist of South Korean rock band DAY6.

Early life

Jae was born in Argentina. He moved to South Korea for two years when he was five years old,[2] afterwards moving to Long Beach, California with his family. He graduated from Cerritos High School and later studied political science at California State University, Long Beach until he auditioned for SBS Kpop Star and passed the preliminaries, upon which he flew to South Korea to participate in the program. He was eliminated on April 1, 2012,[3] and was later revealed to have signed an exclusive contract with JYP, along with fellow contestant Baek A-yeon, and season's first-place winner Park Ji-min.[4]

Debut and later activities

Jae debuted on September 7, 2015 as the electric guitarist of JYP's first rock band, Day6. The group debuted with their first mini-album The Day,[5] in which all members participated. In late March 2016, they released a second mini-album titled Daydream,[6] for which Jae participated in the making of two tracks ("Blood" and "First Time").

On June 28, 2016, he was introduced as the new MC of Arirang's After School Club,[7] as the "Flower Child", alongside Park Ji-min of 15& and Kevin Woo (formerly of U-KISS). This makes Jae a third of "Kaemin."

On December 29, 2016, Day6 announced the Every Day6 project, where they will release 2 songs every month from January to December 2017.[8] On June 7, 2017, Day6 released their 1st studio album Sunrise.[9]
