Cassie McIntosh[1] (born 10 November, 1992)[1] is an Australian model[1] and professional wrestler[4] currently signed to WWE under the ring name Peyton Royce.[2]

In February 2009, McIntosh made her professional wrestling debut at Pro Wrestling Women's Alliance (PWAA) as KC Cassidy,[4] and would compete on the independent circuit with multiple promotions for several years, becoming a one-time PWA Women's Champion,[8] and winning the Vera and Jenny Memorial Cup for the support of breast cancer.[9][10]

In 2015, McIntosh signed a contract with WWE, and was assigned to WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, Florida under the ring name Cassie (later changed to Peyton Royce).[11]

Early life

McIntosh was born in Sydney, New South Wales and later moved to Melbourne, Victoria, and then Calgary, Alberta, Canada in order to train with Lance Storm.[6] Prior to her training, McIntosh excelled in dance. She attended the same high school as fellow wrestler Billie Kay.[7][6]

McIntosh began watching wrestling at the age of 9, and cites Eddie Guerrero as her inspiration to become a professional wrestler.[7]

Professional wrestling career

Independent circuit (2009–2015)

In 2009, on February 28, McIntosh made her professional wrestling debut in Pro Wrestling Women's Alliance as KC Cassidy, teaming with Robbie Eagles in a mixed tag team match, defeating Madison Eagles and Mike Valuable.[4] For the next year in the promotion, Cassidy traded victories with Jessie McKay in singles matches, including a loss in a PWWA championship match.[4] On January 7, 2011, she unsuccessfully challenged Madison Eagles for the championship.[4] Cassidy made two appearances for the American all-female promotion Shimmer Women Athletes, as a tag team partner for Bambi Hall.[4] Cassidy was originally the scheduled opponent for Su Yung at a Shine Wrestling event in Ybor City, Florida, but instead became the replacement opponent for Rhia O'Reilly.[12] She also appeared for promotions Pro Wrestling Alliance Australia, New Horizons Pro Wrestling, Melbourne City Wrestling and River City Wrestling.[8][13]

McIntosh received a tryout with WWE during their tour of Australia in August 2014.[7][14] On April 13, 2015, WWE announced McIntosh as part of a new class of NXT trainees.[11] She made her televised debut on the May 15 episode of NXT, in a loss to the NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks.[15] On the July 22 episode of NXT, McIntosh faced off the debuting Eva Marie, in a losing effort.[3] On August 7, Cassidy was given the new ring name Peyton Royce.[2]

After competing in most of her matches at NXT as a face,[16][17] Royce competed on her first match as a villainess on the December 9 episode of NXT, losing to the NXT Women's Champion Bayley in a non-title match.[18] On the January 13, 2016, episode of NXT, Royce competed in a number one contender's battle royal for Bayley's NXT Women's Championship, which was won by Carmella.[19]
