Prince Henrik of Denmark, Count of Monpezat (Template:Lang-da; born 4 May 2009) is a Danish prince and a member of the Danish Royal Family.

Danish prince

Prince Henrik is the third and youngest son of Prince Joachim. The prince is Joachim's first child with his second wife, Princess Marie of Denmark. The infant prince was born at Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen University Hospital) weighing 3032 grams and 49 cm long.[1]

The prince has two older half-brothers from his father's first marriage, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix of Denmark.

As of November 2024, Prince Henrik is ninth in the line of succession to the Danish throne.

Name and christening

As with his brothers and cousins, his names were not revealed until his christening, which took place on 26 July 2009 at the Møgeltønder Church, where older brother Felix was also christened.[2] At his christening he was given the names Henrik Carl Joachim Alain.[3]

His forenames all have a family significance:

  • Henrik is after his paternal grandfather, Henrik, Prince Consort of Denmark.
  • Carl is possibly after Count Carl Johan Bernadotte, the last surviving great-granduncle of the little prince, who attended his christening; Carl is also the Danish form of Charles, which is the name of Marie's brother, and also one of Prince Henrik's godparents.
  • Joachim is after his father, Prince Joachim.
  • Alain is after his maternal grandfather, Alain Cavallier.

His godparents are the Crown Princess of Denmark, Britt Davidsen Siesbye, Christian Scherfig and his maternal uncles Charles Cavallier and Benjamin Grandet.[4]
