Rianne van Rompaey (born 3 January 1996)[4] is a Dutch model. She is currently ranked one of the Top 50 models in the fashion industry.[5] She appeared on the cover of the 50th anniversary September issue of Vogue Italia, photographed by Steven Meisel, alongside over 50 supermodels including legends such as Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington; and current supermodels like Adriana Lima, Karlie Kloss, and Natasha Poly.[6] Her beauty has been described as pre-Raphaelite.[7]

Early life

Rianne van Rompaey was born in Wageningen, Holland, to Dutch and Belgian parents named Sandra and Renaat. Before modeling professionally she was a high school student.

Career

Van Rompaey started her career by sending photographs to Paparazzi Models, an agency in The Netherlands that also represents Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes. Her first photoshoot was for Elle Netherlands's February 2013 issue. In 2014, Nicolas Ghesquiere chose her to be a Louis Vuitton exclusive which included campaigns for the brand.[8] She modeled alongside Jaden Smith in what was called a groundbreaking ad campaign by Louis Vuitton because Smith wore a skirt alongside the female models.[9] She has also done campaigns for Prada,[10] Chanel,[11] Coach,[12] Bottega Veneta,[13] and Hugo Boss.[14] She co-starred with Argentine model Mica Arganaraz in an H&M Spring 2016 campaign.[15][16] On the runway she has walked for Louis Vuitton, Prada, Miu Miu, Chanel, Versace, Fendi, Diesel Black Gold, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger, Rag & Bone, Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra, Diane von Furstenberg, and Jason Wu. In editorials she has appeared in American Vogue, British Vogue, Interview magazine, LOVE magazine, Self Service, W magazine, WSJ, and on the cover of Vogue China, Vogue Germany, Vogue Italia,[17] Vogue Netherlands, Vogue Russia, i-D, Dazed, and T magazine (New York Times).[18]

Van Rampaey aspires to be an actress.[19][20]

Praise

Models.com currently ranks her as one of the Top 50 models in the industry, calling her "one of the year's biggest breakout stars".[21] The New York Times refers to her as a "fresh face".[22] ELLE UK professes she is on track to be a supermodel in the future.[23] Casting director Piergiorgio Del Moro, who has placed her in Versace, Victoria Beckham, and Fendi shows, believes she will have a long career because of her personality.[24]

Personal life

Van Rompaey enjoys reading the literature of Charles Baudelaire, yoga, swimming, biking, and hiking.[25]
