Siikalatva is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. It was created on January 1, 2009 when the municipalities of Kestilä, Piippola, Pulkkila and Rantsila were consolidated into a single municipality.[1]

The municipality has a population of Template:Infobox Finnish Municipality/population count (Error: Invalid time.)[2] and covers an area of [convert: invalid number] of which [convert: invalid number] is water.[3] The population density is [convert: invalid number].
