Spain entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 , held in Oslo , Norway . Televisión Española (TVE) internally selected Antonio Carbonell to represent Spain with the song "¡Ay, qué deseo! " (Oh, what desire!). The song was written by the members of popular new flamenco band Ketama .
At Eurovision
Carbonell performed third in the running order, following the United Kingdom and preceding Portugal . He received 17 points for his performance, placing 20th of 22 .
