wearing the aikidogi
[edit]Can someone experienced in aikido explain how you tie your belt and if there is some specific way to tie the "cord" embedded in the pants? If you have a link to such a page, please provide it. Thanks, by an aikido novice
- For tying the belt I think there is only one way -- http://www.all-karate.com/128/tie-karate-belt-photo-guide . The belts are available in different sizes -- most student uniforms come in sets of jacket-pants-belt, and if you are normal build the size belt that comes the set should be about right. For the cord in the pants, if you refer to the standard gi pants, any knot that will hold will do since it is not visible -- shoelace knot or square knot is probably most common. It is not critical that you know these things before starting as most martial arts schools sell the uniforms they use and walk you through the process the first time. Many schools allow beginners to workout in t-shirt and sweat pants for the first few lessons. First find a school that meets your needs and start practicing - you have plenty of time for sorting out equipment issues. Badocter 05:18, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
