Complaint from subject

Received second-hand via a call from the Daily Mail. The article has been a playground for pranksters and needs a serious BLP cleanout of everything that isn't well-referenced - David Gerard (talk) 15:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Bibliography

I have commenced a tidy-up of the Bibliography section using cite templates. Capitalization and punctuation follow standard cataloguing rules in AACR2 and RDA, as much as Wikipedia templates allow it. Category:Writers from Bradford

Tichmarsh was born in Ilkley in 1949. The article for the town says this:

"Before 1974 Ilkley was an urban district, a type of local government district. Ilkley Urban District Council shared local government responsibilities with the West Riding County Council. The Local Government Act 1972 dissolved urban districts and in 1974 Ilkley adopted its current status as a ward of the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford. Services provided by the urban district council are now run centrally by the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

It's the world's first UNESCO City of Film, the UK's fourth ever Capital of Culture, the former Wool Capital of the World, the unofficial Tea Capital of the World (for many different reasons, not that anyone realises), and the record 7 time Curry Capital of Britain (which became defunct when the founder died), among other things.

...Here's a list of just some of the neighbourhoods/wards (which includes hamlets, villages, towns) in City of Bradford, but because of these rules which I can't seem to find Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography regarding birthplaces and birthdates which I've been told about all these years, every time I add City of Bradford to an article about someone from Bradford who was born pre-1974, people like you come along and remove it, because you claim it wasn't part of Bradford when it was.

Ilkley is, and always has been part of Bradford, just like the other places mentioned below.

Which part of "in 1974 Ilkley adopted its current status as a ward of the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford" do you not understand? Furthermore Titchmarsh already has Category:21st-century English male writers, Category:People from Ilkley and Category:Television personalities from West Yorkshire, so one could argue that, even if it was accurate, Category:Writers from Bradford is somewhat redundant. Additionally, he lives on the Isle of Wight, so he also doesn't qualify for Category:Writers from Bradford by dint of his current residence. 86.187.234.79 (talk) 19:44, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
