Change Boxart[edit]

The resolution/quality of the box art look really wrong. Someone should replace it with a less stretchy shot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cube b3 (talkcontribs) 19:49, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Litigation.[edit]

It's probably notable that the guys behind the song that features in the first cut scenes agents have been openly litigating against YouTubers who make Let's Plays of or feature video from the game where that song is inserted. It runs in the background, not very notable, but for one cut scene you hear about 12 seconds of the song. On appeal the company representing them proceeds to litigation against claimants outside of the US--specifically--I'm not sure if they do the same with folks in the US, but it's safe to say they have made tens of thousands of dollars out of it--which is obviously their motivation--as advertising that runs in, on, and around the video in question of the players creation goes to them.

It's the scummiest low ball move of any agent I've seen on YouTube, and it was a bit of a big deal when the game first came out (yet they're still actively policing it, mind you) so idk whether it's something notable enough given that the attention it garnered at the time in gaming circles kind of eclipsed the game itself for a while. I'll leave it to the editors who lurk this article to use their best judgment, but as someone who is currently tied up with copyright strikes from these jerks I would like to see some mention of their devious plot in public. It seems that this article is very ... PR-spun as it is, so we might get some pushback if we address the notability of the agents actions given that all agents to date usually turn a blind eye to Let's Plays and given fair use clearly covers this they're relying on people not having the funds, time, or effort to go to the US to fight the matter. It may be notable, but it needs sources. Have any reliable news sites reported on it? Had a quick search and nothing seems to come up at all. Яehevkor 10:38, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Might be related to this [1]? Although this is a Youtube issue, not an Alan Wake issue. Яehevkor 12:31, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up 2nd paragraph[edit]

The second paragraph is a bit of a mess. The second sentence: "Critics praised the change of style and tone from the earlier themes of isolation, light versus darkness, and melancholy, utilizing psychological horror tropes, found in Alan Wake to the madcap, Pulp-influenced themes in Alan Wake's American Nightmare, utilizing black comedy tropes. [citation needed][original research?]"

Requires separation into multiple complete sentences. Three sentences ought to do the trick. I hesitate to do it myself because of the "[citation needed]" tag. I've never even played this game, so I can't speak towards its narrative thematics. As for verifying the information... Perhaps a review from a credible game magazine discusses this purported shift in tone. That's assuming its valuable enough information to keep. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nibia77 (talkcontribs)

The lede does not need citations as long as it summarizes what is sourced in the body, so as long as you believe you can rewrite that in a way that is still capturing the reception section, go right ahead and don't worry about the tags. --Masem (t) 23:29, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"development" section perhaps needs a rename[edit]

It doesn't really contain any information about the development, just a few media things, a leak, a trailer etc from before its release. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.169.82.137 (talk) 22:45, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There should be more about development that can be added , more typical of other game articles. I don't think anyone's put effort to figure that out yet, but if there really wasn't any of this type of stuff, then renaming the section would be reasonable. --Masem (t) 16:26, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
