upcoming projects
[edit]in the main article it says ---'Payne will next direct the upcoming film Nebraska and serve as an executive producer on the new films The King of California and The Savages' but in the upcoming project it says --'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) ' which is it?

A paragraph that was located above contained an unsourced, unsigned and potentially libellous accusation regarding a living person (specifically Alexander Payne). Although it is generally bad form to remove other people's comments from talk pages, under the policy of WP:BLP, we are allowed to remove potentially libellous, unsourced comments from articles and talk pages at any time. false name usage
[edit]Mr. Payne's grandfather changed his name. Alexander Payne does not have Payne as a stage name and Papadopoulos as legal, given or used name in any way. To include papadopoulois as the family name from 100 years ago is somewhat relevent but to cite it as his name is false.
It is incorrect to reverse attribute a name the man does not use. I have seen on many many articles on Greek Amerians a false naming convention. A couple of editors here seem to be doing this, and just back checking their additions see it on well over 100 entries!
I have just looked as Spiro Agnew's page here it it was changed at one point and now makes the 100% false statement: "Spiro Agnew was born Spiros Anagnostopoulos." His fahter changed his name, and he was born Agnew!71.252.110.244 18:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Sentence makes no sense
[edit]This sentence, "Nick was one of the original owners of The Virginia, one of the only 24-7 restaurants in Omaha that was destroyed in a fire in 1969..." makes no sense. It is missing a word, probably "two" (immediately before 24-7) in which case "the" (before only) should be dropped. I don't know how many 24-7 restaurants were in Omaha at that time so I can't fix it, and wonder how relevant it is anyway. Anewcharliega (talk) 08:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- Apologies, the sentence was definitely unclear. Thanks so much for pointing that out. I went back and added more information to reflect the significance of the Virginia Cafe. I am from Omaha and when I have asked people about Payne and his background and connection to Omaha, they always say, "Oh, his family ran the Virginia Cafe." Plus added to that, the fact is that Payne got his first film projector courtesy of Kraft Foods via his father owning the restaurant, and it was the germ of his interest and career as a filmmaker. Omaha is a "culturally" small town, was an even tighter-knit town then, so these details are important to someone who is so clearly connected to and whose work significantly reflects both Omaha and Nebraska. I can try and add more sources and clarify the wordsmithing but all of what is listed here is from multiple sources in the citations, and is taken from video and audio interviews with Payne. To answer your question: There were very few 24-7 restaurants in Omaha at the time (I think one article said maybe 2 total), and its location was of central importance to the city, is of central importance to Payne's early life. Hope this helps to make the article better and easier to understand. BrillLyle (talk) 08:59, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
